As I recall, the planet rose up against the humans because Jake warned their deity that they would fuck the environment and kill her. Humans lose not because they can't coexist with the natives, but because they can't coexist with anything.

Keep in mind that they were basically mercenaries, not soldiers. EDIT The whole reason anyone came to the planet was for a huge payout (aside from the scientists). And its not about SOME people being "like that" its about the overwelming majority simply doing what they're told to do.

Yes, but what reason is there for other good humans to be portrayed? They simply did what they were told to do, like people in real life most of the time, and a corporate fuck is a fuck, I don't need to bring up real life examples. I also think you're reading too much in a little face paint.

This game has done very well among critics for something apparently so hardcore. That's two "Game of the Year" awards from mainstream websites.

But the important thing is that they tried ("tried" meaning dumping huge amounts of money without much thought). The same cannot being said for the writing.
