Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Re: too much encounters... Dude, there have been 100 reports of this already, including several pages of discussion on the topic, in this thread as well as the 1.0 thread. That said; are you using 1.1 of the Expansion, installed over a fresh humongous unpatched 1.0? And if so; are you...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Yeah, 100% CPU is because of all the constant loops. Many old games work this way. Does DX9/windowed have any effect on the CPU usage? What method exactly do you use for running DX9/windowed? EDIT: I'd be interested too.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

I'm on a modern machine with XP (two virtual processors, one of which F2 maxes out with its constant looping), and I've *never* seen as much as 5 encounters per square. I'm averaging one encounter every second square, and maxing out at about 2 per square. However, with Expansion 1.0 I got an...

Lara "tonight" A really trivial issue: Lara will say "don't stray too far, we need to do this tonight" even if you've rested for two weeks inside the church.

Since this is directly contrary to the instructions, is there a special reason why?

I had this too (and reported it) on Kaga encounter #2. If many people have the same bug, it's more likely that it's actually a bug, so I guess it's still good that different people report the same thing. Remember, already in these 5 pages many people didn't follow the install instructions in...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Is there a way to extract the original data as files in the same format as the manual restoration project? That way it would be easy to see exactly what the differences are (using some sort of directory compare) between the original and the restoration project.

These issues were resolved in the latest version. However, when Kaga flees, all his speech flies by without any pauses, causing all the messages (at least 2) to appear on top of each other. I haven't seen this error anywhere else in the game.

After this, zip up the game folder and stow it away somewhere. That way, all you have to do to get a "clean humongous install" is unzip that file somewhere and edit the paths in the config file. The game doesn't actually need to be "installed" to run. Right?

My suggestion: just read the bugreports; ignore the RTFMs and let other people help with them. Then make a really clear FAQ when you release the next update, and create a forum thread for testing the update with clear rules (no posting unless you specify how you installed, no gameplay help, etc)...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Sorry. What I meant was: the Expansion installer (.exe) was updated on the site at least once, and the first time it was updated the "ammo mod" was removed from the installer since it caused problems. So if you have an old version of the Expansion installer (which includes the "ammo mod"), you...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Was the ammo mod available when you installed the Expansion? If so, uninstall it and re-download it. Then try it without any of the optional mods, as they seem to be the major cause of crashes...

Try re-downloading the Expansion installer, especially if the Ammo mod is available in yours.

Hasn't this been answered 100 times in this thread already? But, to summarize the 15 pages in the thread for you: That's what you're supposed to do; install over a fresh humongous install. I think the flint thing is fixed in the latest silent update (just download the installer again after...

I disagree; in a few years we may all be forced to run the game in an OS in a VM. Unless ScummVM supports the Fallout engines by then. =]

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Make three installs/copies of F2; one normal humongous, one you Expand without the optional mods, and one you Expand with all the mods. That way when you find something that seems wrong, test it with the two other installations/copies. AFAIK you can just copy the installed folder to a different...

I think it was a rhetorical question. =] OTOH, for beta testers (which we all seem to be), a spoiler-infested guide on how to provoke test cases would probably be a good idea to keep the thread spoiler-free...

First crash: when throwing a knife in the Toxic caves. Playing as female, all mods. There are always weird slowdown issues (on the world map and on every other screen-fadein/fadeout); I'll see if they disappear if I uninstall the mods and/or the Expansion.
