    An objective review

I would imagine they took off the trigger guard so they didn't have to deal with sticking a large finger into a little ring. But yeah I'm more surprised they're using hunting rifles instead of assault rifles or ( I forget ) whatever smaller weapons they used other than the big guns. Canon...

Fallout 3. Is it really so bad?

A: That's a personal preference, which is why I cited it. Not arguing it's not a valid point, but to me it's not a deal breaker because the narrative focus has shifted. B: I didn't say you have to like MMOs or Oblivion to like this game, just the exploration aspect. And I enjoy the turn based...

What if X made Fallout Y?

As far as alternative developers, I'd suggest Gaia Industries or Akella. Gaia because you can see the love and respect they gave the Wing Commander universe and IP by the handbook that came with the game, something they didn't have to do for a XboxLive Arcade game. Akella because those crazy...

    FO4

I'd like to see a more harsh survivalist based Fallout based in Alaska/Canada.

My first hour with Fallout 3

It's not terribly funny, but I can understand it's just an attempt at humor, not a serious opinion of the game. Not everything posted on the NMA forums is dripping with bile and murderous rage over Fallout 3 only. That'd be inconsistant with canon.

Fallout 3. Is it really so bad?

Considering I love Fallout 1 and 2, like Tactics, hate BOS, have only played Oblivion for maybe 4 days total and didn't like it, got bored of Morrowind (don't like TES in general actually), and don't suffer from brain damage, I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion, unless I'm a fringe on...

    Small silly things

From what I understand of the Jet addict: [spoiler:dae10323ab]You can be a sweetheart and pep talking him into quitting, threaten blackmail and get him to steal from his family's restaurant to keep you quiet, do nothing and leave him be, or be a jerk and give him a pep talk with a lead pipe...

    The MIRV - spoiler

Nah, the Beth apologists' last resort is "Go make your own Fallout 3 if you hate it so much".

Fallout 3. Is it really so bad?

Honestly, liking Fallout 3 really depends on how much thematic (not canon or core feeling) deviance from the first two Fallout games you can accept, and whether or not the gameplay caters to your preffered style of gameplay. If you can accept Fallout 3 is not a continuation of Fallout 1 and...

When did they find the time? (fallout 3)

Not saying it happened often with the nice locals. But BOS scouting and marking makes sense, since that's a part of military tactics.

    Did you all forget..

It's a matter of prespective. From what I've decerned for myself, Fallout 3 is not a representation of the entire East Coast, it's closer to a fully fleshed out single city you'd find in in past Fallout titles to include the city limits, in this case it's the DC Metro area. So to say Super...

V.A.T.S. is NOT a combat system

I've found strafing doesn't help avoid bullets, just missiles, grenades, and other slow moving projectiles. In fact sometimes it's more effective to stand and shoot than duck and dodge. Either that or charge straight in and club the pistol toting sissy with my bat.

It has it, it's just more Inon Zur than Mark Morgan, or to use an analogy it has more John Williams than Hans Zimmer. And for the record I like Hans Zimmer more than John Williams.

When did they find the time? (fallout 3)

I would say it's possible it's a mixture of both emergency service before/after the bombs fell, kind-hearted locals with the right materials, and BOS scouting and marking.

    References to Tactics

I suspect the high level events cited is simply that there is a BOS faction operating in the Chicago area operating on its own and it recruits outsiders.

    An objective review

On the subject of music, from the prespective of a music enthusist with catholic tastes: Fallout 3 does lack for the most part the rythmic beat sound effects of the prior titles to include Tactics. It instead uses more classical thematic cues and progressions as opposed to static ambience...

    Enemy AI

I think in general enemy AI in video games isn't too big an arguement platform unless it is rampantly inconsistant. Out of all the Fallout games, I'd say the best AI of them was in Fallout: Tactics, where the NPC would actually use cover or pathfind around cover to flush you out. Past that...

V.A.T.S. is NOT a combat system

I wouldn't say VATS is a full on cheat god-mode no miss situation. I've been killed a few times trying to chip away supermutants when their buddy kept unloading a minigun into my body cavity. Grenades also explode well next to me. True it cuts down the amount of damage, but it doesn't put a...

    Interesting bug....and a question...

25 books per skill 1 bobblehead per skill So if you find every one of them, you can get 60 skill points for each skill. Then again, you have to find them all.

    Just for clarification

I wouldn't say linear, more like sequencial, in the sense that you aren't forced to abandon all other tasks at hand and do this now-now-now, but you eventually gotta do something about the specified task to get the next clue. A pick-up plot so to speak. Stumbling upon Vault 112 freaked me out...
