Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1.2 (Unofficial Expansion)

That's something that I've wondered about but never thought to ask. Now I understand. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

Fire Gecko pelts were said by the developers to be worthless due to their fucked-up state. That's why they don't even bother to allow you to skin them in the original game. Now in the RP you can skin them, but there's not much point to it. In Fallout, it's never a good idea to save during...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Because, 1. it was Morpheus from Fallout 1. 2. it had no voice. At least to me, it feels wrong and "cheap" to reuse a head from Fallout 1. I'd rather picture the Abbot to look a certain way than for the game to tell me that he's a clone of one of the main villains of the first game. And...

This. More options are planned for future versions.

Right you are. I didn't even think about that. I changed the resolution in ddraw to match what I had set up in-game, and now the game looks great. However, I should note that I still can't see the resolutions listed in the "Resolution" or the "Scaling" boxes.

I went to try this, and found that it was already set to 1.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

I just totally uninstalled Fallout 2 and the RP, then reinstalled them. By default, mode is set to 0, which works, but I get the funky colors. So I go to the screen settings menu, and, like before, the resolutions in the box are invisible (the box is just black) and the game is automatically...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Just to follow up, when I use mode 4, the resolutions still are invisible, but I can click the arrow up and down to change the resolution without the game crashing. So no matter what I set it to, the resolutions are invisible.

It reverts back to 8. No, mode 4 looks utterly terrible. It suffers from awful pixelation, when I have it set to 0, it looks great, but I have the issue of not seeing the resolutions.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

I just set it to 8-bit, then restarted. The resolutions still don't show up. I know they were there when I installed the game, so this is very confusing. Hmm, just the other day I installed the newest ATI drivers. I don't suppose that would have anything to do with it?

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

This is weird. When I go to alter the screen resolution in-game, none of the resolution options are displayed. It's just an empty black box where they should be. I'm not sure what the deal is, because it wasn't like that when I installed the game and set everything up initially. If I try to...

Then the game looks like shit, but it works. I do it through the in-game Hi-Res options. I play in 1024 by 768. I always have Direct X mode off. And, of course, I play in 16 bit.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

I just thought I'd chime in here and say I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, and I've been playing with graphics set to 0 without any problems (I used the same settings on my Vista machine, also without any issues). As long as its in 16 bit mode, it works great, but if I turn it to 8, then I...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

That's certainly a bug and should be fixed. That bit of dialogue is supposed to be in response to the Abbot saying this line (if the PC has already gone down there and killed the death claw): {408}{}{Brother Thomas has been missing for several day, ever since he went down to the caverns below...

    Giving Cassidy a voice.

Alright, since Cassidy is getting a sweet new talking head, the dude deserves to get some proper voice acting. Since I've had previous experience with acting/voice acting, and since I got a semi-professional recording studio in my home (which I got due to my role as a voice actor in another...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

It's possible that someone added that to the wiki based on something I said a page or two back about not seeming to get as many crashes on the play-through in which I didn't include those sounds. But I have no idea if that was the actual reason for the game crashing less. It could have simply...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Heheh, no kidding, I thought that was a bit extreme. Anyway, you could maybe leave the sounds as an option in the installer, with the added caveat that it may possibly lead to crashes, so install at your own risk. That way, I'm sure all but the die hard fans of those Fallout 1 sounds (like...

Once you kill him, he's dead. Thus, no more encounters.
