    Fallout: New Vegas screenshots

I really like those bots. I don't care much about the graphics overall, but it will be nice when the next generation of consoles comes along. There aren't enough big budget PC exclusives these days.

Bethesda vs Interplay: Bethesda drops appeal

^I assumed that he was Fry. I'm shocked that there's two of them.

    Afterfall still coming, still awesome!

That zombie was cool with five railroad spikes jammed into his torso, but that last one was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I can imagine wanting a full mask for sand-storms or something like that. I think the ripped pants are strange considering the body armor and mask, though.

It is kind of sad that he didn't buy Arcanum.

J.E. Sawyer on key dialogue writing concepts

They've said that you won't be penalized for failing a skill check in dialog. That doesn't mean that there won't be consequences for choosing different dialog options. Whether you can "make a mistake" in dialog is probably a bit of a subjective judgment. They probably will try to avoid giving...

Fallout: New Vegas Ask a Dev

We actually know the answer to that. It won't have cro-magnon dialog like FO1&2, but there will be funny dialog choices for any character that doesn't meet the requirements for any skill check that occurs in dialog. So, everyone will be able to converse like a normal human being, but if you...

    Fallout: New Vegas screenshots

The guys in the sewers were more friendly (at least one of them was), but I never got the crotchety old coot vibe from any of them except Harold.

That's a good point. They could defend the tribals while demanding slaves as tribute. Regardless, I don't think they'll try very hard to make the slavers a sympathetic faction.

OXM US Fallout: New Vegas preview scans

^My recollection is that slavers are particularly unfriendly with tribals, at least in FO2. I would guess that Caesar's Legion will be bad guys. There's no reason to think that everyone needs a noble motivation in the wasteland.

    Fallout: New Vegas screenshots

That was mostly just FO2. In FO2 they turned the ghouls into lovable losers. In FO1, they were mindless atomic zombies or extremely xenophobic rotting people. Set wasn't "crotchety." He was a calculating and possibly insane tyrant that threatened to eat you. Harold was the only one that came...

OXM US also has a go at a New Vegas preview

They had better correlate if more than half the skills are combat related. I would just hope that this is OXM/marketing nonsense.

Finnish magazine Pelit previews Fallout: New Vegas

This was technically the case in FO3 too, so we'll have to wait to see what it means. Anyway, that seems like a poor translation. I don't believe that the game has finger damage.

    PC Gamer US Preview Scans

See, I'd say that the world in the first game was blatantly discontinuous. Arcanum had a similar style with a continuous world. Of course, that was sort of pointless, which demonstrates that this issue is a lot bigger than the mode of travel. It certainly made the game a lot longer, but if...

    PC Gamer US Preview Scans

The strong point of fast travel is that it only works for backtracking. So, it shouldn't make the world feel smaller because you have already traveled the distance in first person. That is, unless you think making 20 trips to the same place makes the distance for a single trip feel larger. My...

    PC Gamer US Preview Scans

Well, it tells you that it covers a bigger area. It doesn't actually "feel" very big because it's fairly obvious that the space between settlements is made of a handful of empty repeating sets and you can go from one end to the other in a few minutes. Technically, Fallout didn't use the infinity...

The idea would be that speech affects persuasion and lying, while science and barter affect discussing science and bartering. The only big change from FO3 is that bartering will be used appropriately. But speech should still be useful for solving quests. Well, the consequence for failure is the...

Any information on how 'aiming' is going to work in FO:NV?

To be honest, you should just use some mods. In the vanilla FO3, skill and weapon type/condition do affect spread. But the effect of skill on accuracy is relatively minor, and that probably won't change in NV. It's pretty easy to find mods that do most of the things you want. I don't know if...

They won't complain because the game won't punish failed skill checks. It's always wise to use the answer, because the worst-case scenario is some funny dialog.
