    Heres what I don't get.

One area I'll agree with you completely on. This is a dark world. You should certainly not be able to take everything said at face value.

Falling into that same category I guess my views of what a 'RPG' is or isn't have just broadened over time. Since you're old school... Are the Infocom games RPGs? Is Nethack? Is Out of This World? Is Puzzle Pirates? Myst/Riven? The Pokemon games? Star Ocean? Knights of the Old...

If RPG equalled animal you'd have caught me, logically, but this is more like RPG equalling recession... something that not everybody agrees on the definition of.

I'm not calling either a 'RPG' pure and simple... but both NCAA/Madden and GTA utilize RPG elements without the attached RPG stigma. It is sort of like Michael Crichton writing books with science fiction elements for years but getting away with being included in the general fiction category.

40 man instanced Fallout 'quests' = potentially much more mockable than Fallout 3, guys. Will there be leet epic gear too?

Fallout 3, Bioshock: Videogames or not?

I dunno. Blizzard's taken a fair amount of input on their successful sequels (apart from WoW as far as I can tell, ironically). It just depends on the company. I think sequels are almost always made for money (pure profit or the resources to follow through with what was originally desired)...

So, uh, did anyone like it?

I still think most of the haters would've griped about Van Buren too.

    Impressions thread for positive impressions

I dunno. I sure remember doing a lot of minigames in San Andreas to train up skills. Missions are a lot like quests. I think late era GTA can at many times be a RPG hidden in action adventure clothing. Don't get me started on the 'level your football player up and raise his stats and skills...

Fallout 3, Bioshock: Videogames or not?

People still listen to Floyd pretty regularly... and I bet they do in Hungary too. Without a consumer market there wouldn't be any games other than open source and small programmer projects... but I bet there wouldn't even be nearly as many of those. What was the state of gaming in Hungary pre...

Bioware made Baldur's Gate. One of those things I try to get people to realize... but they insist on making Fallout 1 and 2 to Fallout 3 comparisons. It gets down to high art/low art arguments. Art is art. They're all games... no matter what people assert. If people play them they have to...

    Heres what I don't get.

Somebody needs to write a massive Brotherhood Outcast plot mod. They're far cooler than the Lyons idiots.

3D made RPGs sell more... a lot more. Saying they're dead is pessimism. Expecting them to not change is being a Luddite. So... you have problems with Fallout 3. Work towards better future games... of the future. You love isometric stuff... support Diablo III... you love better story and...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #60

Add a 'compared to what else is out now' and he's not that far off.

A Question For the NMA Community

There've been a number of them... some even arguably superior to Fallout (Baldur's Gate?). 3D just has a potent appeal and the ability to attract a much broader demographic unless you really throw a lot of money at it (Blizzard). While I love isometric games (and am seriously looking forward...

    Gripes about the writing

Yeah... if we accept them at face value you'll have to declare Fallout 3 a great game, Garlic. ;)

A Question For the NMA Community

Ever heard of this game series called Grand Theft Auto? Is it? There were some very high selling PC only games in that period. also... Interplay did outreach back then? Are we talking about the same company? Certain segments of Blizzard do outreach... not all of them.

A Question For the NMA Community

Debateable. I imagine most of us bought Fallout 3... and Fallout 1 and 2 combined haven't reached anything anywhere near Fallout 3's sales.

A Question For the NMA Community

I was eighteen when I first encountered Fallout. Now I'm twenty nine. Many Fallout fans were younger than me, I'm sure, some older at the time of the initial game. They're reaching out to the current young audience.

    Fair Fax Ruins, Fort Independce

Pretty much only one decent suit of Power Armor in the whole game.

A Question For the NMA Community

Shocking thought... Bethesda reached out to the new versions of most of us... at the age most of us encountered Fallout.
