Bethesda should have given you a job as a writer :P

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

uhh, aren't we talking about WASHINGTON DC, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? US Marines are issued ceremonial swords upon graduation of their boot camp, yes, but I did not see a single US Marine Corps Saber in Fallout three, again, all I saw were CHINESE Officer's Swords, you know, carried by the...

    Impressions thread for positive impressions

To Geomancer > I agree, I found myself horribly irritated when NPC's would just disappear in the game, and apparently for no reason. I believe that happened in unmodded Oblivion games as well (maybe even in the modded versions?) One of the other things you said really struck a cord with me...

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

Yeah, also a very good point. Why are there Chinese ghouls running around in DC? I get that we were at war, but it's completely stupid. As far as the swords go, blatant laziness.

Also, in reply to ^ What facial expression? Bethesda made a game with facial expressions?? Last time I checked everyone's expressions in this game were as static as, heh, text.

I agree with what was said about not wanting a game that was basically a clone of the first two Fallout's. Obviously we would want some updates, technology would dictate that the game mechanics would be able to be improved, and of course we would want that. But you are fooling yourself if you...

    Fallout 3 is derivative

As was noted (either in this thread, or another, I can't remember), in the first two games if you set, say, your luck attribute to 1, really bad things would happen to you, including increased random attacks on the map screen. In this game, you can set your luck rather low and all it does is...

    The First Fallout Expansion

    I ignore that anyway :P

Ahh, yeah, I suppose it would have to be huh :P

    Fallout 3 is derivative

Why? He already has the pointless gaming of Fallout 3, why waste 20 bucks a month for the same drivel?

    Favorite Locations

It's a tiny location, barely a blip on the map, but I liked Arefu, and here's why; Who the HELL builds their home on the remnants of a bridge? That's as insane as it is awesome.

    Fallout 3 is derivative

Oh man, and the first Fallout had replay value in every orifice. Let's talk about SPECIAL. Because the attributes actually meant something, one character could be radically different from another. You could have some heavy handed, simple minded brute, or a frail, intelligent, shadowy character...

    Set death anims vs Ragdolling

But aren't most of the 'smart lines' basically rehashed from another of the options you have to say? It all seems kind of pointless. If you make your intelligence a 1, you don't talk like you did in the first two games, with grunts and animal noises, the dialogue options stay the same (minus the...

Anyone else find computer hacking depressing?

I'm not sure what you are saying here. Taking three guesses and repeat, don't reload and tell me it's easy? No, it's not easy if you take the four guesses and get it wrong, but it's obviously functional to take three guesses, exit out of the terminal, go back in, and take three more guesses, or...

    Big city life in D.C.

Wow. I totally agree. It irritated me when I realized that all I had to do was really pump the skills I knew I would use up to those specific numbers as I leveled, and then round out the others. One thing I do with the hacking is, instead of using all four chances and then reloading the game...

    Inflexibility of Main Quest

Even more, a simple spin around while toggling VATS mode will alert you to any possible threat that you might not have noticed with your own eyes. It feels horribly cheap. No one has been able to sneak up on me in the game.

    Set death anims vs Ragdolling

But is luck really all that necessary in F3? I have mine down to 3 points, and now I am regretting having those two extra points in it at all. I was expecting to have amazingly horrendous things happen to me like they did in the first two, but that isn't even close to the case. The Luck...

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

The Shishkebab is fun. I stuck about 25 points into Melee by level five or so, not a whole heaping lot, just enough so that if I ever did happen to run out of ammo, that chinese sword would be at least somewhat useful. I noticed very little difference. Also, why is it that EVERY SINGLE SWORD...

    Impressions thread for negative impressions

That's exactly how I felt from the moment I started. I felt no real connection to these characters that I supposedly knew all my life. Amata said Jonas had been my friend, and then she told me he was beaten to death. All I could think was, "damn, and I missed it?" The game has been one bloodbath...

    Improvements over Oblivion

Ah, that might be cool. Cooler than somehow coming up with Super Jet with sugared cereal.
