"Bethesda appears to have nailed it"

No but they seem to have turned Vault-Tec into the OCP/Umbrella Corp/Weyland Yutani of Fallout. In that they now have a hand in everything. So now they make targetting systems, Vault Boy is in the Pipboy and the Pipboy does everything! Nevermind that Vault-Tec did not design the Pipboy.

    Metal Gear Solid 4

To me, MGS has always promised more than it delivered so I'm not terribly excited anymore. And Vamp.. why'd they have to bring back Vamp? He was just so lame.

    Pete Hines interview on SPOnG

The Highwayman in F2 uses fusion cells, which are nuclear power sources. It was originally going to have a large fusion reactor instead but the idea was dropped. I prefer fusion cells now because that's what's been established, but full on nuclear cars wouldn't be outside the realm of Fallout...

"Bethesda appears to have nailed it"

Yep, they nailed it. The lid of the coffin that is. Yeah. Only now the Pipboy does *everything* from stats to quests to data to inventory. Gotta make it easier for 360 users, after all.

    Child rearing.

There's a factory that produces these kids somewhere, right? 'cause my niece had the exact same vocabulary at that age (hey I live with her and her real father's a washed out no good bum, it counts as rearing damnit).

    Pete Hines interview on SPOnG

Descriptions of "shooting the nuclear power source" and "mini-mushroom clouds" are enough for me. Unless the previewers were all sleeping through the demo. Not to mention that in any case any power source these cars might've had would be long since looted. Do you think the Highwayman in Fallout...

    Child rearing.

Wuss. Think she's bad now? Wait until she's 4 and wants to take over your computer and thinks it's funny to throw balls at you when you're walking down the stairs. :P

    Temple of Trials

Sewers? Don't recall any. The doors are weird though. She sold it for more Jet. Yes, the Elder likes to FLY!

I think he's already been hit with one.

Why the attachment to overhead/top-down isometric POV?

Oblivion does use lower res models for the distance. A real draw distance looking like Oblivion's would consume far too many resources, so they implement this sort of "cheat". This technique made it possible to implement a high draw distance in Morrowind even though it's engine didn't support...

    Space exploration games?

I tried X2 but hated it due to being constantly interrupted by the awful story with horrible voice acting and truly hideous characters. One dose of Chinny McChin Steroid the main character was enough for me. Does X3 improve on that?

    Pete Hines interview on SPOnG

For the last freakin time. It's not that the cars are nuclear powered. It's the fact that they go up like Hiroshima when sneezed on that's the problem. And if Pete the Liar tries to take credit for Fallout's ideas or claim seniority over Interplay/Black Isle one more time I'll go berserk.

    Space exploration games?

Top-down rather. The only thing that can be third person is the planet based RTS segments. It's still an awesome awesome game though.

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Haha, the whole "colony" thing in Beyond the Sword is a pain in the ass. I miss my worldwide mega-empires. :( Still, adds another challenge to the game.

    Pete Hines interview on SPOnG

I love how Pete the Liar strawmans fan criticism into "wanting everything to be exactly how it was in 1997". Because, you know, nobody accepted Van Buren or anything.

Ron Burke answers Fallout 3 questions

Yes but it's a made up virus that's transmitted by means of being dunked in a vat full of viscous green fluid. Hence paraphrasing it into "magic goo". :P

    The Fatman

I don't think so, given that one of the PA's features is resisting energy weapons (I think). Plus the Chinese developed their own PA, they might've been able to develop some sort of PA-buster too. But like their PA, only manufactured in small quantities, too small to prevent getting kicked out...

Ron Burke answers Fallout 3 questions

What I mean is we shouldn't have to spend time trying to reconcile what is essentially a gimmick into Fallout's universe. Fallout had mutants made with magic goo. But they had a point. They were part of the story. Exploding nuclear cars are just there for the sake of being exploding nuclear...

    The Fatman

I doubt that the crew of a submarine would be issued with plasma launchers. I'm thinking more of them being used against PAs during the Anchorage Reclamation. It's not impossible that some were taken and shipped to D.C. before the war.
