Further Level Cap Increases Could Unbalance 'Fallout 3'

FO1/2's combat system was far from perfect. Very far actually. But at least it wasn't a joke like FO3. I intentionally made a character with minimum INT and PER, nothing put into small guns, max STR and pretty much all points dumped into unarmed, playing on hard. It was a cakewalk. At the end I...

Replace Jet Jaguar with Optimus, err... Liberty Prime, and I think you've got a winner.

    Jeff Gardiner on aliens

If the VD can claim the spaceship, maybe the next step is to colonize Mars or Titan. Think of the possibilities. Giant sand worms. Fallass Effect.

    Jeff Gardiner on aliens

Maybe they'll continue this storyline in FO4. The VD takes control of the ship, returns to Earth to collect what remains of humanity, and then travels to Titan, where they establish a colony, processing methane and ice.

First Mothership Zeta pic at extreme low quality!

I don't even think about those kinds of things. I can't get past the fact that the gameplay itself is complete trash. The rest of it doesn't matter at that point. It fails as an RPG. Window dressing. It fails as a shooter, which is supposedly its backbone. Unquestionably the worst...

Bethesda: "No one can match us"

Open-ended except for the completely disconnected, non-contiguous areas which require loading screens every time you enter a building or change levels. Op Flash/ARMA and Gothic are much more open world.

    Fallout 3 Cosplay

So this is why I could kill Enclave soldiers, armed only with brass knuckles. Their armor must have been made out of foam and paper mache. Anyway, the guy's work is impressive. It's too bad the original design is so shoddy. The helmet looks ok, although too much like a storm trooper's...

    NMA Point Lookout Review

Yeah, we should be comparing it to FO 1/2, but it doesn't work. It is a shooter. A shooter where hit/miss is based on dice-rolls. As I've said before, skills can be incorporated into a shooter and work fairly well - Deus Ex, NOLF 2. Aim drift, recoil, reloading time, etc. can be modified by...

    NMA Point Lookout Review

Until the combat is made decent, the rest of it is moot. That or make combat less central, though we know that'll never happen. If you want to see an open-world shooter done well, look at Operation Flashpoint and ARMA 1/2, or even Far Cry.

    Point Lookout: a buggy release?

That's the first time I've seen the term 'crop up' used in regard to buggy software. It makes it sound unidentifiable and blameless. Par for the course I guess.

Hmmm, who do we know that this statement applies to? Sure, keep writing in your free time and improve your skill. When it comes to a commercial group project, leave the writing to the most talented people.

    Point Lookout gameplay footage

Uh, bobbleheads scattered around a swamp, sure. That doesn't destroy immershun, does it? Artistically speaking, it looks like shit. Even if this were a small developer from eastern Europe, it would be embarrasing.

    Feargus Urquhart Interviewed by Gamasutra

Drankensang was a really bland NWN 2 clone, with virtually zero party interaction, except for Dranor's and Rhulana's sidequests. The premise of the story was interesting, shapeshifting reptilians in disguise as humans, etc., but it wasn't executed very well.
