Fallout 2 mod RPU - Talking Heads Addon

Hey everyone. I just got done revisiting all the lines for the Cassidy talking head, and I saw I had DMs pointing me to this thread. I'd love to help out with some voices for the new (AMAZING) talking heads! @Black_Electric hit me up?

Part 2! All the rest of his lines Gonna cut them up so they're ready to be put in game update: OK! Re-voiced all the (previously recorded) lines. I had fun and I think it turned out well, and way better than last time. I replayed recently and was cringing a bit at my last attempt (it just...

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

!!!! Seen! Sorry it took me literally a year! Came to this thread as I wanted to update the voice lines I previously recorded for Cassidy, which I'm gonna do today. Which other talking heads need a voice? Vic, is it? edit: here's my progress, feedback welcome! I think it's a better fit

Nah, not in general, and not in FO2. Not even in a 3D game engine with its own 3d soundscape really :) music is another story tho

yup totally agree with Lexx. the disonnance is profound imo I recorded in mono, then converted 'em. why?

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

OK, I think I understand your reasoning, but I do not agree. It's not "just because it's always been that way". It's because the base game's assets will never be better, or higher quality, without being recreated from scratch and replaced entirely, which is something that absolutely shouldn't be...

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

thousands of posts in these threads. can't find an image of the vic talking head in any of them (but the top post here https://www.nma-fallout.com/threads/talking-heads.191138/page-55 seems to indicate that theres a vic talking head ready to go). maybe @Drobovik can offer up some answers? i...

    a-ha yes, here's a vic talking head: http://www.mediafire.com/file/qx0wc7xd9qwbbx6/Vic%2527s_Head_FullyVoiced_RPbacks.rar/file – "fully voiced" apparently!?

Just a follow up thought. Has there ever been an attempt at a talking head for Vic?

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

sure, here ya go: (note that the filenames arent the same as what i already shared/matching whats in game though, these higher quality wavs are just named cas_1.wav, cas_2.wav etc) i don't get why though? the acms and lips i generated with wav2lip worked fine, and 22050 is consistent with...

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

okay thanks – does it matter? it worked lol. read earlier posts in this thread, i have no fucken clue what i'm doing with this stuff so i used the tools recommended to me here :drunk: i needed something that would generate both .acm and .lip files. the ACM files weren't the issue here. it was...

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

thanks mr. postman!! I'm sure it could be packaged independently or as part of the RP/UP/whatever – anyone is free to use what I've shared here in any mod standalone or otherwise :) For wav2lip to generate .acm and .lip files properly, I actually needed 22050hz .wavs, in stereo.

Here's a .zip that includes: the modified rpu_cassidy_voice.dat that's being used in the video above, with my voice lines the (stereo!!) .wavs that the .acm and .lip files were generated from a directory with all the .acm .lip and .txt files i used ready to go

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

@burn thanks, but no speed issue when I used wav2lip as the readme said (stereo files instead of mono). Came out perfect. And YESSSS! Here it is working ingame: What's next for getting this packaged with restoration project updated?

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

thanks @Lirk (and thanks so much for signing up here just to help me) one thing I did notice is that I did match the wav format ... except I've been using mono and not stereo. I guess I missed that. Let me try wav2lip once more with that change!

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

to test, I straight up replaced the existing .lip .acm and .txt files that were in \mods\rpu_cassidy_voice.dat with my own. this was the result: the lipsync to the talking head actually looks good, it's just that it's playing at 2-3x speed (and pitch!!) and now I'm lost. lol.

Fallout 2 mod New voice for Cassidy

@gustarballs1983 @Lexx @Lirk THANKS GUYS! I fucking did it. Lexx, you were right, making .lip files is unbelievably tedious. But I have now got .lip, .acm and .txt files for my recordings of every Cassidy line currently in FO2 restoration project. Haven't tested yet (don't even have FO2...

And not to derail the conversation from this debugging nightmare I'm having, but I've had a lovely message from Chris Avellone who I bugged on LinkedIn for some feedback on my Cassidy performance!
