Fallout 2 mod Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.3.3 (Unofficial Expansion)

Long ago, before I knew that I could politely "shove" party and some non-party NPCs, and before I knew the "wait ten minutes" trick (to trigger random walking/running), I reloaded my game to an earlier save after I got stuck (surrounded) in the entryway to Renesco's.

Just added a typo (underlined right here) to the wiki when talking to Bishop after delivering Moore's briefcase--"ol' Tomcat Moore can't seem to step off his soapbox long enough to actually to do any legwork." Edit: Added another New Reno typo in Eldridge's floating text when going back to...

killap, just added to the bug wiki a curious issue in Broken Hills: using the detonator device from Jacob shows the message from Anna's diary and confers 100xp upon the player. Edit: It seems that any "usable from inventory" items do this when Anna's Diary is also in inventory. This only...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.3.2 (Unofficial Expansion)

Just posted two minor typos (one of which may not even be a typo) to the wiki. You know my tendencies by now. :look: One is a random encounter with save game, where a model is referred to on hover as "scared traveler"--wondering if it should be "scarred traveler" in line with the...

Thank you, killap and contributors! :notworthy: I wonder if we'll see a bunch of folks naming their next Fallout 2 player characters after you... uh, not that I'm planning to do that, of course...

To me (again, operating in a vacuum here) that almost sounds as though the relevant script is being called twice. The first time it's ignored with your fix because the map's not yet ready, and the second time it's loading like any other map.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.3 (Unofficial Expansion)

@killap, without knowledge of the scripts here I'm more or less stabbing in the dark. Is it possible that the check for is_map_loaded has the side effect of ensuring the map gets loaded, or maybe setting some other variables, in the case of the Kaga encounter? Since you say you do...

Where at the SAD are the savegames that are corrupted? Are these saves made during combat?

Now I remember! Heh--the cutscene with the floating text. Not sure where those are kept. I do believe it was that way in Vanilla, though. The phrase "mind your own business" makes more sense than "mind your own affair" for telling someone casually to go away, but I think Horrigan says...

Ah! I did indeed miss that. I apologize for the noise. (Maybe some Linux player will benefit, at the very least. Heh.)

Looking through my dialog (data/Text/English/Dialog), I see the fragment "mind your own business" in the Dunton and Metzger dialog. I can't find "mind your own affair" in this directory. Whose dialog changed? The word "sonuvabitch" does indeed show up a lot in the dialog. I don't feel as...

@Arthandas I don't know if you're using Linux, but here goes: I'm using Wine on Debian Linux and I noticed the same thing when using the generic (open-source) Radeon graphics card driver. When I installed the proprietary ATI driver, the cursor lag went away immediately. I'm playing on...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.3 (Unofficial Expansion)

@killap, I use Debian "Wheezy" (with Linux kernel 3.2.0, if it's of any use) and Wine (Windows XP mode) with a GoG install of Fallout 2 and I'm not seeing any immediate negative impact when I enable either the ProcessorIdle in ddraw.ini *or* the CPU_USAGE_FIX in f2_res.ini. (I'm not seeing any...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 (Unofficial Expansion)

I think someone else mentioned seeing something like this. IIRC it might be caused by an insta-kill on a slaver. An engine bug, basically, and one that you solved by redoing the area.

@jasse Awesome. Glad we were able to help you work it out. As a side note, I think I read (in the 2.2b thread) that some Windows players had issues stemming from the protos being read-only. I'd keep that in mind if you run into more issues like this. Cheers!

Fallout 2 mod Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 (Unofficial Expansion)

@jasse I should have phrased my earlier response better. First, the file is fallout2.cfg. Next, the SAVEGAME dir is not defined explicitly, but the DATA directory is. The changes I am suggesting are to any paths at all in there, but most importantly (in my own testing) to...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 (Unofficial Expansion)

@jasse I probably should have included that bit, along with the full filename! ;) (And that is indeed the correct file.) In my case I corrected the paths, re-saved, and tried again. In your case, I would like to suggest: 1. (I edited this post to insert this step) See if there is a path to...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 (Unofficial Expansion)

@jasse I had this problem when I installed Vanilla with the default config file. When I finally thought to open up the .cfg, at least one or two paths were incorrect. I think it was looking for the DATA dir (and therefore the savegame dir) in Program Files\Fallout2, which is not where I had the...
