Yet another preview of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s multiplay has been posted at 1Up. They have played the same deathmatch multiplayer demo as all the other previews, and have put their own spin on it. It's short, only five paragraphs long, but it has a few interesting tidbits of information.

It's a cliche to say this for every new first-person shooter that comes out, we know, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s got some killer graphics. The game runs on a custom engine devised by GSC Game World, a group of developers from the Ukraine, and our first impression is that it's at least Doom 3's equal when it comes to pretty, atmospheric effects. The abandoned city we played in was filled with neat little details, from the rotting roofs of buildings to a sky that very gradually shifted from day to dusk.
I think it's safe to say that they were impressed by the graphics.

Picked up on from Blue's News

I knew you were going to say that.

Actually I did, why would I lie? Not reason to take credit away from Duck and Cover, especially when you have some great stuff like that recent interview.

When I saw the Blue's News link yesterday, I thought that Odin had made a news post about it, not until today I realized that the 1Up preview had not been covered at No Mutants Allowed.

If you want to be a stickler, I could put a link to Duck and Cover, but I hardly think you are that type of person Mr. Teatime.

Err... and I do have a sense of humor, just an odd one, so don't think this post is in complete seriousness.

I spent minutes in awe looking at the weather effects in Morrowind. I'm sure I'll be doing the same in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. staring at swirling clouds and acid rain.

I've never understood why I'm so fascinated by weather, but if you throw in convincing rain, I'm pretty much whipped.

Heh. The sandstorms are the best feature in MW. The first really impressed me, I hid near a cart and waited until it was over.

I hope Stalker will have some new impressive features. And I wonder if I get a weapon to bring down one of these 'copters.
I am really looking forward to these anomalies. Should be interesting.

I've never understood why I'm so fascinated by weather ...

In Oklahoma it can be a matter of "life" or ending up in Oz with Toto and dorothy.

Was in OK a couple times in '03 and was fascinated by the "routine and intense" tornado coverage in the media. They could name which street it was traveling down.

In Ohio it's pretty much over by the time they list the counties in the tornado warning. Almost like a wind up and pitch.

OK FULL FRONTAL -weather- seemed more like waiting for a hurricane on the east coast, or a seasonal wind storm from off the North Pacific, sometihing to prepare for, and endure, for it WILL happen, and in OK it happens every second or third week during those "scheduled" months?

Looks good. The screenshot with a guy ducked and another guy pointing a flashlight to him is extremely detailed. The lighting effect is fantastic.

What?

Haven't had too many tornadoes this year. Maybe 4 or 5.

I know that sounds like a lot, but when they almost never cause any significant damage you learn to live with them. A series of tornadoes killed a lot of people around Oklahoma City a few years ago, but I don't remember which year it was. That was the last time we had anything serious.

The only preparation required for tornadoes is a basement, ditch, or if you're lazy a town in a valley. There's no real need to prepare for tornadoes since they don't go everywhere like a hurricane does. Which is fortunate.

... but when they almost never cause any significant damage you learn to live with them. ... Oklahoma City ...

It sounds like the random inconvenience of power loss during/after thunderstorms in Ohio. Need current protectors or 'just say' ""unplug"". You seem to have " a low place to go " mapped out as second nature, so watching the weather fly by must be as routine as rain, and drizzling rain, and misty rain, and, then, ... the dazzling sunset, in the Pac. Northwest when clearer air is on the horizon. Many shades of grey all day , then full optical spectrum light show.

Oklahoma City, that's where we are sent. Was someone there during
that series of twisters, so of course, they had plenty of pic's to create the mind set, the suggestion of potential and possibility. Being delayed in Dallas Fortworth Airport, and riding most of the way to Will Rogers in on turbulent air, like an old low altitude DC-8, helps create the ambiance too.
