1. What level/rank are the PA/APA available for purchase?
2. How many missions are there?
I'm currently on Jefferson mission... Can't wait 'til spring break (next week), so I can advance further (maybe even finish the game).

I don't know about PA/APA, but I believe the box says 20 missions, and I'm guess that it's correct. If you have the bonus mission installed before starting a new game, that would be 21 missions. I don't know about everyone else, but It's taking me about 4 to 8 hours for each mission, depending on how difficult the battles are. (The first super mutant encounter with the APC probably took at least 12 hours, since I assaulted the hill. I managed to kill them all as well! Stupid muties....) Anyway, perhaps it's my playing in ITB/STB modes that causes them to take longer, but I kept getting wasted in CTB. Either way, I'm looking at over 100 hours to get through FOT - cool!

The PA is available...

Umm...right after Cold Water, I can buy one! And holy shit its expensive...I spent about 26k outfitting my entire team with Metal Armom MkII, and now the ony PA costs 19k alone, and I am using the doctor to buy, he has 106% barter skills, Stitch, I am sure you guys are aware of him...

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Apr-04-01 AT 02:27AM (GMT)[p]I too wiped out the entire map. only took me about 6-8 hours. I play mostly in STB, but also CTB sometimes.

How much does a PA cost if I don't have high barter skill? Does the QM gamble in that bunker?

BTW, I gambled for 11 Metal Armor MKII

RE: The PA is available...

Yo i just bought power armor. it came available after my 12/13 mission. Also it cost 22k but who cares ..money is easy to get. And my rank is lvl 7.....im trying to remember name..maybe senior squire...but rank name does not matter, cuz i know its lvl 7...

And about people who taking 4-6 hours or something per mission that is insane. I play in the fast mode and it only takes about 1 hour per mission.

RE: The PA is available...

Some of us older folks (27 - heheh) don't necessarily mind taking 6 hours per mission. Not only does it increase the length of time we get to play the game (from start to finish), but it also allows us to feel like we're really in control of the game. I tried the CTB mode for about 1 mission and decided it really sucked. Half of the time my guys would stand there and do nothing while being shot at. Even when you use the "aggressive" modes, they don't move anywhere unless you tell them to. I figure if they wanted it to be like an RTS, they should have given your characters more brain-power. But then, I really don't like RTS games much. It's fun building up a massive army and sending them out to destroy the enemy, I suppose. Problem with FOT is that you'll never have more than 6 characters to control in a mission, so the entertainment of having an army is gone. Anyway, if you want to take 20 hours to beat the whole game in CTB, but I want to take several weeks and over 100 hours, who's to say one is better than the other? That's the beauty of games like this - there are multiple ways to play.

CTB

i thought CTB was confusing at first but when i played the FOT demo i got completely used to it. I tried playing TB but it was just too slow to me. i guess it depends on what kind of player you are (in Counter-strike i rush the entire time). i couldnt think of playing the whole game in TB. but anyway i fell in love with CTB. i think im pretty close to finishing the game (im in like the 2nd or 3rd robot mission) but i hope they put CTB mode in fallout 3.

RE: Fallout 3

I love going off topic (if you hadn't noticed). As far as things I'd really like to see in Fallout 3, how about the ability to directly control all of your "party"? I'm an old-school RPG player, and I really appreciate the ability to take control of all of the characters. There was nothing worse in FO1/2 than having a couple of your characters decide they were going to be helpful and rush that big-ass Deathclaw or Super Mutant group while your main character was busy sniping. And let's not forget the joy of having someone fire a burst and end up doing more damage to your own party than to the enemy. Granted, you had some limited control over these things, but personally, I like having total control over the party.

RE: Fallout 3

CTB vs TB (squad is the only way to go imho for TB) I've been playing ctb for some time with this game on my second character, it is alot faster, but there's no way you are going to get through each mission in an hour. Up through the beastlords sure, but after that the supermutants are so tough you'll be spending alot of time positioning and reloading or you'll just be a big pile of bloody chunks on the ground. I wanted to go into TB on my first supermutant mission but there was some bug where every time I did an unseen supermutant would mow my entire party down with what sounded like a minigun. So I killed every last stinking one of them in CTB. It wasn't easy but with judicious sniping and bombing I was able to do it.
