It Wandered In From the Wastes
Ok so i got a character with 9 luck and 35 outdoorsman and i get very few random encounters, i can travel from gecko to san francisco and back and only have 1 or 2 encounters, does the world map speed have something to do with encounters or just luck and the outdoorsman skill?also i downloaded the encounter booster, didnt help.

Maybe it's just "luck"?

I can travel from certain locations with getting only 1~3 encounters or getting like 10 of them.

Do you have any perk like pathfinder?

nope, before i downloaded the Fallout Restoration Project mod i had 1-2 encounters every square, and a lot of special encounters, now i get only the kaga special encounter as well as many random ones but very little.
Anyway, luck is a very important factor,i started a new game and with 7 luck i get more encounters but still to few,i saw in the read me file of the fallout restoration that you can modify the speed and encounter rate but this didnt help much... :(
Anyway to bypass the encounter rate and return it to default?

I wish I had a little more random encounters, too. I'm playing with Killap's patch (but no mods). Even with luck 10, they were barely coming.

Hmm I have the latest version of the Restoration Project and still get a fair amount of random encounters.

It COULD be something about map/travelling speed, I remember that being mentioned somewhere and a way to fix it.

RP has a bunch of extra features during the instalation process to make the game more enjoyable, maybe he'll add something like a encounter enhancer in a future version...

Well actually, there is a way to set the world map speed, open ddraw file in the fallout directory and find WorldMapDelay2=10 you can change the number the higher the value the slower you go and you get more encounters, but at 60, and this is REALLY slow, from vault city to Modoc takes about 30-40 seconds, i still get to few encounters.
There is also WorldEncounterRate=6 thats default i have tried changing this to a from a 100 to 1 but very little change...

I am running Killap's latest patch (the PATCH, no mods).

I've noticed those variables in the ddraw.ini file.... But they're all COMMENTS now and there's another comment saying "OBSOLETE!". So I didn't even bother changing them if they're obsolete...

Of course, that got me confused. So I just left everything as it was. :s
