A boy and his dog

Silas

First time out of the vault
I just watched it and it seems the whole Fallout universe is heavily inspired by it. Vaults with weird social experiments, Glowing Ones,........

And funnily enough, look at Vic's rifle :)

heh, I noticed. They should have a telepathic dog in it one day, lol. I love Blood. He's such a smartass. "Well, I'd say she certainly had marvelous judgment, Albert, if not particularly good taste"

Old things inspire new things. Got to love old films to. A Boy and Dis Dog, Forbidden Planet are two films that seemed to match Fallout. Also, your avatar. Unrelated but I loved Leon The Professional U.S and International release. Also Powder was a good movie. Besides the point though. ;)

Maybe we'll see references to more recent post apocalyptic fims. The Road or maybe Children of Men.(wait...was that post apocalyptic? I cant remember...>_<)

Too be fair almost all of the non DC areas in Fallout 3 seemed ripped from The Road (or at least I assume, I only read the book) unfortunately the forgot to add the heartwarming bits.

And Children of Men sort of counts but it is more of a "Just before the apocalypse" thing than post

The book is amazing, and the movie's pretty good. can't go wrong with Viggo mortenson. Or, for that matter, Cormac McCarthy. And, not dark and desolate enough. but the movie wasnt released till after Fo3 anyway, so, yeah.

Okay, I feel somewhat stupid for asking this, but what is that movie? I've seen the images before, I just never knew what it was. With all the movies back catelogued in my head I'm annoyed I don't know this one,lol

well, Leon. and thanks. I've seen A Boy and his Dog more than what is most likely considered healthy, lol such as why I have "Well, I'd say she certainly had marvelous judgment, Albert, if not particularly good taste" committed to memory, lol

Ah, I thought that avatar resembled Jean reno. Which is what made Onimusha 3 so entertaining to me,lol Luc Besson is the director of fifth element, right?

Honestly among the old and new actors Jean Reno is one of my favorites. To see him now and see what he portrayed and probably did is fantastic. Even in that film some regard as a "piece of crap" movie remake of Godzilla (I stand neutral on that and have watched it). His acting in movies is sometimes enough to draw me into watching them.

Same for Christian Bale in American Psycho, Equilibrium, Batman... He's in the way of changing the image of Batman. At least for me he has. Can't say I enjoyed the Terminator: Salvation film.

The older Fallout games definitely borrow from a Boy and his Dog. A Canticle for Leibowitz is also a very big inspiration I think.

I think New Vegas borrows from McCarthy, but not so much The Road as much as his Neo-Western books like No Country For Old Men or All the Pretty Horses.

Off topic yet again, but I do need to save a soul from making a grave mistake.

Just make sure you watch "Leon", and not the version titled "The Professional"

I believe about a 3rd of the movie was cut to make it more action oriented instead of the more character driven narrative of untempered version.

Now On-topic.

A Boy and his Dog is the best PA movie I've seen. Even better than the Mad Max trilogy. Definitely a good entry into the PA genre and it works wonders as flavor to create hype before a Fallout pen and paper game.

Also doesn't this thread seem like it's in the wrong place?

I will make sure I see that then, plus I would never see a luc besson film with none of his unique flavor. i.e, the remake of taxi...God no.

I got super excited when I saw Rex for NV, I hoped he would be able to talk.
