Okey let's have some more ideas for weapons. And to the one who called me a liar because I said that the BoS didn't manufacture their own weapons, I stand corrected. I replayed FO1 a few days ago and found out that they did indeed produce their own weapons. But, they only seem to be armed with miniguns (atleast in FO1) so I wonder where they plasma rifles came from. Anyway if Interplay is going to continue their tradition and make the third game take place 80 years late then from the second I say that a lot of things could happen in that time. The BoS could be destroyed and with them the techmology to create advanced weaponry. I think that the weapons should be more primitive, more basics firearms like Uzis, pump-shotgums etcetera.

I don't know, cause I kinda like all that advanced weaponry but I do have to admit near the end of the game it just became to easy. But if you use weedy weapons such as the SMG, it just takes ages which means its pain in the ass for long battles.

If everyone uses SMG, hunting rifles and such and wear crummy armors then the battles wouldn't be to long. They also should make the "regular" weapons more powerful if they remove the advanced ones. I think that your HP's shouldn't be to high either, 'cause face it even if you have 150 HP's you can't take 5 shots in the head from a Gauss Gun. I don't care how many levels of the Toughness perk you have. I also like advanced weaponry but not in fallout. I think that Fallout 3 should have a more darker, Mad Max feeling. After all, the world has gone thru a nuclear war.

I agree killroy bt I think you there should be some kind of more advanced weapon. Lime a protoyupe to a very unstable plasmagun or something. And i think all the weapons in game should hang up more I mean i have played fallout 2 for almost 2 years and i have never gotten a gun to hang up... kinda strange hu? I mean look at one of todays Beretta 92f hangs up all the time.

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Jul-04-00 AT 04:00AM (GMT)[p]I agree with both of you, however, if you think about it, there is almost no way to take the advanced weapons out of the game. If the BoS was destroyed, there would still be thousands of new guns out there and they are an important part of the balance of the game. The only way to get rid of them would be to have a pre-Fallout game that took place before the major places created these new guns. Or have the game take place in a locale untouched by modern technology. The plasma and laser guns are also part of the atmosphere, whats a post-nuclear world without your handy ray gun?

Also, I am strongly in favor of making guns require maintenace, Fallout seems to be going along a more and more real world feel so they should throw in the added affects of broken weapons or armor, or maybe some more control over how your weapon performs. Higher skill equals higher performance levels, a novice wouldn't be able to take proper care of a weapon and it would eventually wear down and be less effecient.

I tend to agree with the more realistic group. I personally would have liked to see far fewer 'ray guns' in Fallouts 1&2, but its to late now to take them out of the game entirely. If you stick to the storyline, there would have to be at least as much advanced weaponry in FO3. Especially considering that 80 + 80 + 80 = 240 years after the bombs dropped, I'm fairly certain that there would be enough infrastructure to actually develop NEW weapons, not just manufacture old pre-war designes or slight variations of them.

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Jul-04-00 AT 04:12PM (GMT)[p]I didn't know that there where more than thousand of plasma and laser weapons in FO2. I only found a few hundred. j/k :-) In Diablo, the weapons had durability. When the durability goes down to 0 the weapon brokes. That could work in FO3. And even if 1000 of 1000 laser and plasma weapons lie around the wasteland they couldn't survive for 80 years without maintance. There could be afew advanced weapons but not a lot. There should also be more upgradable weapons and armors too. And "new" weapons made after the war. The vaults probably developed weaponplans to use when the emurged from the vaults and people like Smitty in FO1 or the Shi in FO2 must have invented SOME new guns. One thing I find odd is that all "new" guns the BoS invented was from before the war.

I think the thing about the BOS inventing things that already existed was probably either them 'rediscovering' lost technology, or just someone at Interplay got careless.

They should make a prequel. I think that after 240 years, the world would pretty much be rebuilt, and on it's way.

Land mines

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Jul-10-00 AT 04:24PM (GMT)[p]And how about adding some landmines there? There were some in Fallout 2 but as far as I remember you couldn't place the new ones. It would be cool if you could prepare for a long battle by landing some mines at the doors, putting radio-controlled bombs in rooms etc. Mines could hurt enemies' (or our) feet for example.
Of course, in order to prevent users from easily destroying everybody with them there should be some limitations: such as high cost or skills needed (e.g. traps 120% or 150%), low reliability or that you'd get attacked if they catch you.
What do you think?

RE: Land mines

" as far as I remember you couldn't place the new ones."

'Use' plastic on a grave or something and voila. It would be cool if you could trap people with mines and blow of their feet like this, I can already see them coming at me Frankie style. Oh, if you so much as drop an explosive near a slaver and he sees you he already attacks you. (weird, shouldn't they at some point find out and run like hell?)

Full auto

It would be pretty cool if they would add a full auto mode to atomatic weapons, that would definitely make heavy weapons more useful.

RE: Full auto

and what do you mean with full auto in a turn-based game?

I think there should besome Very Advanced weapons (i.e. the plasma rife{even better the Plasma Minigun}) but the Ammo should remain scarse and found in large quantities VERY rarely. Another idea i had was inspired very much by Wolverine from the X-men. What if you could get Sub-dermal claws implanted that do a shitload of pierceing damage? If not implanted, then a gauntlet with retractible claws or something in that vein. This would be like the Sub Dermal armor implants you got in FO2 and naturally incrace your melee damage and your melee critical chance. It eould be cool.

RE: Full auto

You burn an entire clip in one turn.
It would cost less aps than 2 bursts, and perhaps you would get an accuracy penalty, so in order to do a lot of dammage, you'd have to have your gun skill really beefed up.

Is it just me or have you been inspired by the X-men movie? ;-)

Not only does the brotherhood produce its own weapons but if you listen closely to (Mason?) he says "most guns come from us" meaning that they make most of the weapons available in the wasteland arond there base and trade them for food, water and other things. Also in another thread someone said that fallout 2 was too high tech and too much ammo was around well at the end of fallout if you get the good NCR ending you find out that the brotherhood slowly shares there technology with the NCR and teaches them how to produce weapons and other equipment on there own.

dude i dont know what you are tlaking about but the SMG rules. :(
