A few problems with FO1

Have checked the stickies, but I'm having a few problems with Fallout (original), which are these:
Any savegames I make in the Military Base crash the game when I try to load them.
In the labs underneath Cathedral, whenever I try to use the elevator to go beyond level 2, the game crashes.
In the military base, I am unable to deactivate the force fields (using the computer on level1, beating solitaire) even though it says I have.
