A GOOD Fallout universe spin-off

It would look LIKE a really lush VALLEY. It would be full of ROLLING HILLS and no one would use CAPS to emphasise points. BUT that might not work 'til IT'S patCHED.

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Jun-19-02 AT 01:01PM (GMT)[p]...idiot. If you have no idea why I used caps to emphasize my point, wouldn't it be better for you to give me a benefit of the doubt rather than jumping to conclusion of me being a caps-monger?

You know, Rosh (and other moderators, while we're at it), it surprises me you ban enthusiastic BlackIsle fanboys in a second yet let dozens of "sarcastic" morons to fill this board with their crap, while your DUTY is supposed to be exactly the opposite!

I agree, but these newbies do not know who they are talking to. If i was to go back in the game help forums i'd be treated like a newbie by a newbie.

On the topic, i think that a game like SIM vault would not be so bad ( i like sim games) where you have to manage food and water, bargain with traders, break-off riots...

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Jun-21-02 AT 04:22PM (GMT)[p]Yeah, but it'd probably have to look more like "god games", with you being an Overseer... With campaign(s) stretching from, say, 20 years after the war to the time of Fallout, your Vault could get in trouble for different reasons.

You'd basically be getting Fallout'ish Dungeon Keeper.

I don't know how it would look, but I would like it in Morrowind style, it would be cool to see the rolling wastes in front of you, and having to scale mountains and stuff, but that would be dramatically realistic I guess.

I think an interesting concept would have the player be a settler, and make a town like The Hub or Shady Sands, sort of like the Overseer idea, but with different complications. Maybe you could be a wandering traveler instead, but I guess it would be hard to give a traveler a goal other than to survive in Southern California (which is hard enough currently :P)

It'd look like crap. Sorry, even if it was GOOD (my apoligies to the first poster), I doubt it'd have the same FEEL and ATMOSPHERE (again, my sincerest apoligies to the first poster). I suppose if they were added in and made RIGHT (I feel I must apologise again to the first poster, I'm sorry, what was your name?) then it'd be...... Uhhh.... Good?

I'm NOT too SURE (I think I'm over doing it now) what the game would actually LOOK like (yep, over doing it), but I'd guess a Morrowind type game. Maybe a more involved world, as was mentioned, something like "The Sims", where saving the world isn't the goal of the game.

Moo..... Moo.... I'm an Interplay Cow. (Ready to be milked with a Fallout style MMORPG with aliens!)

Maybe a "Master's Vat create a mutant deluxe kit" where you can create monsters and mutants... by dipping them with different things or animals or other mutants.

NAwww! maybe just as an extra on a future game.

Maybe a game kinda like pizza tycoon, "water tycoon" a sorta economics game.

How about a New Reno based gambling game. I know I know, everyone hates Reno. i just like gambling. For anyone who's played Vegas Stakes, i mean a game like that. Except less cheesy and fallout themed. We could even have that hillarious comedian.

"Radscorpions... whats so Rad about them??"

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Jun-27-02 AT 02:57AM (GMT)[p]I thought you'd understand that "GOOD" would also include a correct portrayal of Fallout universe. As for the atmosphere, it's tricky. Fallout 1,2 were CRPGs, and the atmosphere of the game was also influenced by this fact.

It all boils down to this: what kind of game would you, as a (hardcore) fan, accept and buy. I'm not asking for cheap jokes on crappy Fallout spin-off ideas.

P.S. - and no, I'd love to see Fallout 3 as much as the next guy, I just don't think it's going to happen. Ever.

P.P.S. - shit, I only wrote one word in caps, and you all get medieval on me.

I agree about the atmosphere, a spin-off game can't have it, just like Frasier(my wife likes it) does not have the atmospere of Cheers (my wife and i liked it).
Good is also difficult to grasp. I might love a game that you hate and vice-versa.

Aw come on jokes is what we do best.
Some of these idea might be fun games to play in, even tought i would probably not buy it until they are in the discount bin at wal-mart.
Games like Brahmin hunter might be fun or a race game, i would like to see a lego line of Fallout coming out this year.
Even a warcraft "type" game mutants versus Enclave or BOs might be fun to play.
We are not even thinking about replay value, just good games, entertaining games.

Anyway if it comes out it'll be crappy. I still say that they should buy the license for Wasteland and redo it 60's style.

I was talking about "Ignatiusstone" APTYP, not you. :) Sorry if there was some confusion. I meant "1st poster" as in "1st person to reply" (It actually has a number "1" next to the post in the top left). I understand what you meant by the all-capital GOOD.

As a true, HARD-CORE fan, I'd only really want a turn-based isometric game using the SPECIAL system. :) BUUUUTTT... As to what I would buy if it had the "Fallout" name stuck on it? I suppose.... You *might* be able to get away with an FPS. As long as you keep that 50's tech feel. Wandering around levels using plasma rifles and the such but with levels that ARE 50's settings. The old reel to reel computers and the rest all chugging away in the background.

Perhaps have some radiation affected areas where you need to pop some RadX before going through. Also, more of a "Thief" type game. IE: Killing everything in site is not the goal, but rather, there are other things to do as well. Also included in the package is a good story with lots of depth. Hacking into computers, downloading information onto your PIPBoy, developing the story from the info you read and all of that.

I'd accept and buy that. But it would really have to be good. More of a First person RPG. Morrowind style.

That's honestly about the only game I can think of with the Fallout name that I'd buy. I WOULD prefer isometric turn-based combat Fallout 3 above this though :)

I actually think it will happen.

When you say how would a new fallout game "look", do you mean in terms of style and atmosphere, or in terms of POV etc.?

Anyway, for the former, I think the decaying and rusted look of FO Tactics was very nice (although the game lacked atmosphere). However, I did NOT like the random encounters in FOT, as the wasteland was too cluttered with rocks, trees, bushes, oil drums (is it just me, or did a disproportionate number of oil drumd and cardboard boxes survival the War?). The bleak, desert waste of the first two games was much better, but the towns lacked detail or any 'real life' detail.

For the latter, I think a similar pre-drawn isometric view *still* works well. In my opinion, sprite based games, like Warrior Kings aren't as asthetically pleasing as FOT.

Anyhoo, that's my view.
