Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
Hi guys,

I would like to show you some photos I took during my journey to Yunnan province, which is near to Myanmar(if you know where it is, lol), last winter. Which might help you understand a little more about China.

A lake in Kun Ming city, the capital of Yunnan. There are many seagulls in December, because Yunnan is a warm place, overall.

These little birds are not afraid of people, I guess the citizens like them and will not cook them :)

They fly all around the city and just stay wherever they want.

This bird just flew in front of my camera and I feel lucky to have one photo like this.

This is a park, the seagulls gather here, and many people come to see them.

The paper on the wall says "perfect woman wants to be married", and a guy is looking at it, I doubt this will do him any help though.

I went to Xishuangbanna district after leaving Kun Ming,

Local government is expending the road and hope that will bring more tourists. My driver (who is a native), doesn't like the idea. He feels too many forest will be destroyed and they have many tourists already.

The arboretum of Xishuangbanna. There are many old plants inside, which have grown for tons of thousand of years.

I lived in a village, all of the residents are of the Nation "Dai", which is one of the 56 nations in China. I'm of the biggest one, "Han" nation.

Their house have square poles instead of round ones, the main reason is there used to be a lot of snakes, and the snakes can not climb square poles. They usually live upstairs, so it's safe.

The Lancang-mekong River, in China it's called Lancang, but in Myanmar it's named as Mekong River.

Two bodhi trees in the village, they've grown for over one thousand years.

An old Buddhist temple, which is built in Tang Dynasty, which existed between 618~907. It has been renovated for a few times, and this is the only old building I saw in the temple.

One day I went to the village of Ji Nuo, which is the 56th nation, officially confirmed by the government in 1979. They live in quite a few villages, and the one I visited is the biggest one.

This little girl is our guide, who is of Ji Nuo nation. She just graduated from a university. And as local villages are still very poor, the local government has given financial assistance to her so that she can complete the study in university, and she must work locally as a guide for at least 3 years for return.

She told me that in the village she was born, they just have water supply a few months ago, and they used to drill water from a well on the hill before that.

The toy on the stick is a copy of Baymax, so we can see this girl is quite stylish. I can feel she is very smart and lovely, and she should be one of the cleverest people in their villages, I wish she will have a wonderful and bright future in the cities.

The grand house of the village master, who is very old and sensitive to flashlight, so I don't have a photo for him.

An old lady who is weaving. The little girl said she could do it, too.

A local boy who is practicing guitar. I don't know this is his hobby or he is one of the artists who will play for tourists like us in the village.

Another day I went to this village, the resident there are not even regarded as a nation, because they have only 2,000 people, they are called "Ke Mu people".

They are all very short, you can compare the man in black with the little girl who is sitting on the chair. Our guide said as Ke Mu people are very poor, they are very unlikely to marry with women from other areas, so they can only marry their own relatives, which makes them always short and not smart. The ones we saw are selected, they play for us so that they can make some money to improve their lives.

Another temple in Jing Hong City, the capital of Xishuangbanna district.

I hope you will not feel too boring for these photos, I still have more but that's it for now.
I don't take a lot of photo in the cities, if you want to know more about the cities in China, I can upload some next time.

Any comments or questions are welcome.
