Now at first, I'm sitting here thinking to myself why am I playing a simple anime kinda game sold in Interplay's bargain bin. Then of course, I realized that bargin bin games aren't that bad. After all, the ENTIRE Fallout series is now in the bargin bin. I never heard of Shogo though, so how in the world did I end up addicted to it?

Well Interplay actually did some good with those dual jewel packs, although I'm looking for one that Interplay seems to have gotten rid of. They used to have a Planescape: Torment/Other game one. They don't have it on their site anymore though. D'oh.

But...if you guys like action and roleplaying you might want to invest your 9.99 into the Septerra Core/Shogo pack. Septerra Core is a pretty decent game from what I remember. Truth is I haven't gone through it to much because of Shogo. See, I ordered Fallout: Tactics (probably the only Fallout fan who hasn't boughten Tactics yet, but I swore an oath to boycott it after playing the demo. I like Tactics though, from what I've played (which again hasn't been much). So that leaves one game that I really had no idea what it was going to be like. Shogo!

The game is your typical first person shooter, except that half the game you're in a Mech (like the Mech Warrior games) and the other half your just some guy toting a rifle. The game has few surprises and certainly doesn't compare to first person shooters like Half-life, yet its still fun in its own way.

I dont' really want to get into a gigantic review about the game, but for about 10 bucks you get a decent RPG and a decent action game. Not a bad deal from the folks at Interplay.

So now that I beat Shogo (although there's a few endings) I think I'm going to play Septerra Core, and save the best for last. Yay.

I remember Shogo, never passed the first few levels at the time, but thought it was fun. maybe i`ll buy it now it it``s really cheap.

So i wasn`t dreaming, that really existed! Damn, i can`t find PS:T anywhere in my country...

No you aren`t the only one :-)

Well, i have Septerra Core, and never passed the start of the game. The fighting with the monsters to level up on the bridge section is boring beyond belief, and the game kept freezing, then it would disapear and i would go back to my ugly wallpaper in a zip...too unstable and not enough inspired for me, hope you have better luck.

If you bought Septerra Core for 5 bucks, then the game is a sweet deal. But if you actually bought the game for its retail price of 30 dollars, like me, then its not worth it.

The game has a quaint enough storyline almost on par with Fallout with a more fanatical anime touch. The graphics are...okay as you won't necessarily be thrilled with the graphical effects but at least the character models are decent enough. The only, and very major, problem with the game is its annoying combat. It takes literally forever just to level up and combat doesn't seem to cease since each level is riddled with a fair share of enemies and you have this "charge bar" for each attack similiar to the FF games that takes forever to charge up. So in sumation, this bargain bin game is roughly another Final Fantasy game for the PC. But, shame on me, I played it through to nearly the end of the game and it had its few, yet glorious moments.

"Credo Ut Intelligam"- I believe so that I may understand.

Well...

I'm looking for Planescape as well, maybe if I find it, I'll buy ya a copy. =)

Yeah, one thing that worried me (since I'm now running XP on my system) is that Shogo and Septerra Core instantly crashed after playing the game for a few minutes. Then I took the advice NMA gave for the Fallout games and altered the .exe so that its compatible with win 95. That seemed to work I guess. I think Shogo (like Deus Ex on my computer) eats up a lot of virtual memory so eventually it'll crash my computer after playing it for a long time.

But thats okay as I got through the game with no problems. XP seems to counter the crashing as it just closes the program and your entire computer doesn't lock up. So I've been pleased so far.

I also recently bought Bladerunner for the PC. I've heard a lot of good things about that game, so I'm getting excited.

You know...Electronics Boutique has Starlancer for 1.99! Isn't that insane? I love this! You wait like four months and games are automatically thrown in the bargin bin. Or perhaps, more time is slipping past me than I ever considered. =/

1.99?! really?

Then again i got septerra Core for free as a cover mount cd on a mag, about 6 months after the original release.

RE: Well...

As with SS2, here the same : I have all those games (yes I stockpile them, no not all are original cd's). Shogo is quite good, there has been no mech-game with that kind of storyline, with city-based quests.

About Septerra Core : It's hardly an rpg. You can't divide stats, it happens automatically. It's linear (you have a lot of "planes" revolving around the core, well u kinda have to do all on one plane before you can advance to another, eventually reaching the core).
The weapons were also poorly made... It's a RPG for beginners, imho.

u could prob buy Deus Ex for the same price....And Deus Ex is a real kewl game....If you don't already have it.....

Life's a beach...Then you're sushi...

Yeah

Unfortunately I got Deus Ex when it first came out. Well not that thats a bad thing, but I still paid full price. Hehe. I never actually beat Deus Ex, isn't that pathetic? Ah well, I got up to like this russian submarine or something and quit playing cause I hit a glitch that like messed me up.

I heard there's a value pack that has like Oni, Deus Ex, and a few other action games thrown together for like 9 bucks. I really need to upgrade my computer. Otherwise, I might as well kiss Deus Ex 2 goodbye.

RE: Yeah

Hey Bhass!!! What price is Oni and Deus Ex here?? ;-)
In God we Trust

Uhh I have Planescape: Torment(it came with Soulbringer which I've never actually played...) and its really not that good. Well no its good its just that for some odd reason as i get farther along in the game it starts slowing down more and more and more and more and more and more till I have to start a new game and do all that crap over just have it do the same thing :D

Yikes!

Did you check out the site for it? Maybe you just need a patch or have to configure something.

RE: Hmph

50 what? Well okay BFM, you're right here. Lets say if we bought the Original one a game is about $12 a piece. So it is cheap. Well since this is not USA errrr how about......50. I mean 50 cents?
That's for pirated version. I always bought original software if they sell one here!!!!! (IF! *sigh*)
