A new condition to get Broken Hills happy ending

This isnt mentionned on any wiki, but today i finished again fallout 2 and had sad ending for Broken Hills,despite jailing racists and finding dead bodies in sewers.


Here is what i found out: i had completed the quest about testing mutagenic serum on mutants, testing in mariposa base. I was done with all my quests and about to go to enclave, and decided to see if i could find out something about reason of my failure regarding broken hill fate. I went back to broken hills, and , surprise, i found out there is a specific line you get with marcus only in Broken Hills, where you tell him: be careful about what you drink, a doctor is testing a virus.

Marcus then thanks you.

And guess what, i got happy ending. On that very same playthrough. I am assuming that this Doctor Henry keeps doing tests on mutants and that if you dont warn Marcus, it causes deaths.

But this is verytricky because you have to be in broken hills to warn marcus, you cannot have this chat with him in any other place. I post this here becaus ei dont know if this is an additional ending requirment brought by killaps or existing in the base game.

Iam also surprised no wiki mention this.

This sounds very odd. Per doesn't mention it, so I suspect it must be the RP.
It's a good addition in theory, I think, but the implementation sounds very ham-fisted. They should make it so that Marcus doesn't have to be in Broken Hills when you tell him about the Doctor. Better yet, make it so that if Marcus is in your party when you talk to the doctor about the serum, you don't have to tell him at all.

I found this on wakthrough, i still find this weird

"You can now tell Marcus about the NCR scientist's mutant experiments. If you have already recruited him, you can still tell him about it as long as you are in Broken Hills. Marcus will thank you and tell you he'll never forget, other than that you get no XP or other reward. The caravan run to NCR will also get canceled for fear of poisoned goods. If you know about Dr Henry's experiment and don't tell Marcus, Broken Hills will get the racial wars ending."
