After "The Vault" and the "Fallout Wikia" merged together to make the .fandom Fallout Wiki, many Fallout fans were increasingly disappointed with this wiki.

Inaccuracies and headcanon are being posted as facts, while real information keeps being edited back to the false and inaccurate garbage causing a general dissatisfaction with the only Fallout wiki in existence. So fans decided to make yet another Fallout Wiki (with Blackjack and Hookers):

    Independent Fallout Wiki

Here's to hoping that this one will strive to be accurate and factual.

Nice, it’s got that old-school wiki look like UESP still has and it isn’t infested with pop-ups.

Considering I find Fallout 3 and 4 lore to be noncanon it's still not good for me. :/
I'll just have to play the game and try to memorize everything on my own.

So that was a third wiki other than The Vault and the Fallout Wikia?

Nukapedia might’ve been the one that became the “Fallout Wiki”, before later merging with the Vault. Maybe I’m wrong, this would’ve happened like a decade ago or more, right?

    You're right.

First, there was Nukapedia (AKA Fallout wikia back in the day), then The Vault appeared due to a split of the Nukapedia people. Both existed and competed for some time, then fandom.com bought the Wikia and merged both (Nukapedia and The Vault) together and now they are one fallout.fandom.com which is still named Fallout Wikia and still uses the Nukapedia logo:

This is nice and all but I probably won't use this wiki, for it contains Bethesda fallout lore such as 3, 4, and 76. I want a wiki for each game, so the lore can be perserved and not overwritten like wikis usually do when a new game comes out.

Could probably be done on one site though. FEV (fallout 1), FEV (fallout 2) and so on. And if you want the full page for FEV then it has everything combined (which will mean overwritten bullshit) but it would also contain links at the top leading to each game's individual lore.

Just like this independent Fallout wiki was made by people that were annoyed at the existing "Nukapedia", you guys can start making a wiki like that. Unless someone starts it, then it will never exist.

Or you could try contacting the team that is making this new one and suggest what Mr Fish just said:
You could even use the argument that this would make the Independent wiki stand out from all the other Fallout wikis that ever existed. While having well organized information about the individual games or something.

Awesome! I found some problems with the original one as well.

Also wait a sec, I thought The Vault came first and Nukapedia came later?

    Yes and no.
You see, I didn't mention this before because I didn't want to confuse people, but Nukapedia was the original The Vault. The other The Vault appeared later with a split from people from the (then) newly renamed Nukapedia.

    Here's a bit of history:
People created the first "Fallout Wikipedia" (using the MediaWiki software) all the way back in the early 2000s. It was hosted by Duck and Cover. After a week or so they renamed it "The Vault".

One year later, The Vault moved to the Wikia platform (which is now called Fandom).

Five years later "The Vault" was moved to the Gamepedia platform, but this was what caused the rift between the people who were making and maintaining it.

So while The Vault was imported into Gamepedia, it still existed on the wikia (the move didn't delete the already existing fallout wikia). And some people refused to move to Gamepedia and kept working on the Wikia platform, this was when the existing "The Vault" wikia was renamed to "Nukapedia", while the newly imported "The Vault" retained its name.

So it's quite confusing because Nukapedia was the original The Vault, but it had to be renamed because it was imported into Gamepadia and that one retained the "The Vault" name even though it was basically a copy.
