A New Way of playing Fallout 3

The New Fallout Needs different ways to beat the game. I know that there is different ways of ending the game. I want different ways to get the same ending or slightly different ending. You should know what the goal is but not tell you how to do it like the other two games. They told you "you need to get a new chip or G.E.C.K.". The concept of Fallout and Fallout 2 were both go on a quest and then find out you have to kill alot of people. I thought that this was great for Fallout but that Fallout 2 was at the base of the game the same as Fallout. I think that i needs to be more loosely based. We need to find a way to do what needs to be done. You would have to talk to more people and your NPC's could give you idea's by you talking to them. You would also have to be careful to who your talking to because they might tell someone who might take that weakness and exploit it and then it would be that much harder to do your task. Ways in solving the task could range to destroying a group of people, making a treaty, destroying a complex, having someone or some group think that they have to do something about your problem(or that the problem affects them too), start a war between people or groups, assasainating a person, steal something (of course this would very hard and you would have to face someone or some group if seen),or even kidnapping.

If only kidnapping was in FO2....one could have a hella pile of money by kidnapping Bishop's daughter then holding her for ransom!

I like your ideas especially about making a treaty and destroying complexes. But, there shouldn't be TOO many things to do in Fallout ...after all we don't want anotther Daggerfall do we??? That game had noble ideals to be sure, but then all the quests started being rather cookie-cutterish ...
 
There doesn't need to have all those thing in there but some should be. But what i was trying to get at was that i think that the game needs more ways to get a positive ending. As most of you know you could even join the master and the game would end with a video of mutants in Vault 13 and killing, taking humans (to be turned into mutants), getting killed be the Overseer, and eventually killing the Overseer. But there was only one way to get a positive ending, Destroying the Military Base and Killing the Master. In Fallout to you had to Destroy the Enclave Base. Most of you guys complain about how Fallout Tactics is too based on Combat. Well Fallout and Fallout 2 are both in the end...Combat. No way to get around it unless you want to become a mutant and then backstab your own vault or if you don't really care that much about arroyo. I was just thinking that there should be other thing to do besides killing and destroying to get what you want. There should be a few ways to do it to. This would also give Fallout 3 a huge replay factor. Wouldn't want to start over and do it a totally different way. I got more ideas but im sick of typing. HeHe...

But isn't that the whole point of good vs. evil? That one force is either subdued or eliminated? Im sorry for appearing naive but what other ways should there be to get a positive ending??? Give Jet to Frank Horrigan so that way he's too wasted to lift a finger against you????

I do understand your idea about the different ways of getting a positive ending but I am at a loss as to how that would be implemented.

Well Fallout and Fallout 2 are both in the end...Combat.

But, you can completely avoid combat in Fallout and I've heard it's possible to do in Fallout 2 as well...
There are 2 non-combat ways to destroy the Catherdral.
1. Convince the Master that mutants are sterile. Master comits suicide & destroys the cathedral with him.
2. Sneak into the basement, start the nuke, and get the hell outta there.

There's only 1 non-combat way to destroy the Military Base though. Sneak into the control room.

Sure, the only way to get a happy ending is to destroy these to places. But, how else do you plan on stopping evil? Are you going to go up to every mutant and convince them that they are wrong? Will the mutant let you get that close without bursting you first?

Thats where the beauty of germ warfare comes in. Modify the FEV virus to kill the mutties.

But I agree there should be another way to win the game. If a village needs food, do they send out a person for a geck? or do they raid neighboring towns. hmm... They already did the former...

That gives me an idea for the new baddie.

There were ways in the Military Base to make the task less combat and more stealth, like you had to kill the sentries and then you used the radio to call in an alert to the other side of the base. Although I loved saying "Uh... everything's fine here... we're fine... how are you?"

"All I need for the rest of this whole friggin game is a sawed-off! I'm the original Californian Bad Ass, after all!"
 
That's cool. You could put a big ass ransom for someone's important kid. How about the mayor's son in NCR?
