"abnormal program termination"?

I just got my FOT today, and after succesful installation, i tried to run FOT, but all i get is an error sound ("bling") and a blank screen and a this message:

Runtime error!
Program:c:\................\Fallout Tactics\BOS.exe
Abnormal program termination

I tried everything, i tried large, medium and small installs, i tried to restart my computer, change some options etc.

I have Windows ME, my computer is new, with 1000 mhz, 128mb, 16mb 3dcard (intergated Savage) with directx 8. Getting a patch could help but i wanted to ask wor help first because i don't have Internet connection yet, or i have but this shitty 166 is at my moms, and i just moved to my fathers place, and i dont have a connection yet.

Actually the problem is WinME and FOT, the only thing I can recall that can fix this is to install FOT, then install the latest patch for FOT.
 
Okay, thanks. I'll try that after getting connection. But if that doesn't work, what if i change ME to 98?
 
I haven't tried it on Win98, but I think it'll work better on it. WinME is full of bugs!
 
Yeah, i've noticed...I had some problems with Max Payne too, bacause of ME. I'm gonna change it to 2000.

I'm having the same problem with Fallout Tactics (abnormal program termination), but I'm running Win98 Second Edition! Did you ever figure out what was causing it? I've tried just about every troubleshooting step and still no luck.

I have 8.0a, i took it from FOT cd. My, sound card...hmm, i'll check it out when i get home. But it wasn't good, i remember that for sure.
