hi!

I am newbie, and would like some clarifications.

I downloaded DAT file packers/unpackers

Is that ALL that I need?

The thing is, I own fallout 1 and downloaded children mod BUT XP and vista CAN´T run fallout 1 SO I revert to DOSBOX...but that kid mod doesn´t support DOS version of Fallout 1. At least just putting folder "ART" with it´s mod contents (example: NACHLDAA.FRM..etc) under folder "DATA" doesn´t bring children back to game. PLUS that mod contained falloutw.exe too...


So am I right? I just unpack Critters.dat and put those new files in children mod (example: NACHLDAA.FRM) and pack again and that´s it?

Or is that I have to modify CFG file to SEE that there is ART folder in DATA folder??

Of course, XP can run Fallout. If you can't install it, try to install it manually. There is also a tool, that will install Fallout for you.
 
I mean that I do install it fine but it won´t start, BTW I use
Win x64...tried virtualbox, ran 32bit XP sp3..still won´t work

I´m "digging the truth" but dosbox is working so well that all I need is lil bit modding skill here
 
Well, yeah, I got Win 98 SE running in VBox, with HIGH resolution, 32bit true color, DirectX audio (SB16).

And this shit runs better than in dosbox, and that stinking child mod isn´t that good....I thougth there would be new quests, but no, "hi" "where´s tour parents?" baah

There are two quests (as far as I can remember) missing in Fallout 2, if you don't have the children patch installed.
