About Sneak

Mutant_Rascal

First time out of the vault
I played fallout 2 several times but i never really had any use for sneak skill, so i have some questions:

How i sneak on a aggressive npc in a room ? :

1. Click on the enemy and use the sneak skill
2. Click on my character and use the sneak skill

And if the answer is 1. then how I sneak on a group of enemys ?
Do I have to use the sneak ability on them all ?

Thank you in advance

Just use the skill by pressing 1, and it should say Sneak or something of the sort in the lower-left side of the screen, and that should work for all. How well it works depends upon your skill and how well you walk through the room.

Speaking of sneak, I read somewhere that sneak doesn't give you any benefit while you are trying to steal. Is that true for FO1 and 2?

1. As an example: If you sneak into the Militairy Base in Fallout 1 and reach level 3 you get a bonus. I'm sure there's more locations like that.

2. Your party members aren't really seen the way you see them, sometimes they do seem to be (like when they trigger a response from another NPC) but that's just scripted action.

Hence the reason your party members can wander off, stand in front of any enemy (that is not yet hostile to you!) without being shot.

I'm not really sure, but I'm thinking no. Since the difficulty modifier is ramped up by the weight, number and orientation of the stealee and I do not believe any of that would be modified by sneaking.

Confirm/deny?

If you are "detected" stealing something, but you are behind your target and sneaking, even though you fail the steal, sometimes they will not see you and you will not go into combat. You can then try to steal again, or sneak out of the area. If you exit sneak anywhere around them after failing to steal (but not entering combat), they will attack.
