adding items to fallout caracters inventory

First time out of the vault
hi im new to the modding thing. i have made some awesome 50 cal guns. how do i move them into the inventory of my current player? ive been looking for 3 days now and i cant find anything. plz help!

thanks, matt, mattmiester4@gmail.com

Hrm...the way that I would do it is: open a town's map with the mapper and add the weapon to an existing container. Everything else can be found here: http://modguide.nma-fallout.com/ (such as how to go about what I said)

My reason for doing this: I have tried using a fallout inventory editor but no luck due the editor not liking my proto.lst that had the new prototypes added to it.

how do i go about doing that? what files do i zip or unzip and do i need to rezip the maps after i change them? Can i do this to a level after i have visited it?

thanks again,

What exactly do you want to do? Make it so that when you enter a map these guns you claim to have made appear in your inventory automatically, perhapse with a snazzy message?

how do i go about doing that?

That would take scripting.

No zipping involved. Just unpack the map with the datexplorer and place it in data/maps.

Before doing that, you might want to either get rid of patch000(not recomended) or unpack it and place everything in the data folder.

Can i do this to a level after i have visited it?
Yes, just delete the townname.sve from your save folder and visit the edited area again. Bugs may occur depending what map it is though.

There is another way to go.

Try installing MrFixit (i think it's at v1.1) by team-x

Basically once installed you can setup your new weapon and/or ammo as items that can be made by your character from combining other items.
all based on rules you set i.e repair skill level, tool required etc. all config done via a text file so no scripting required.

I'm doing something along these lines myself.
The only drawback to the way your going is that the other NPCs won't be able to use the weapon.
if you want them to...the easiest way would be to replace an existing weapon and ammo (like red ryder LE bb gun & bbammo).
