Adding weapons and changing appearance

First time out of the vault
hi -

1. Could anyone tell me how to add weapons to farsight and stitch in bramham wood?

ive unpacked everything (locale, gui, tables, entities) to a new folder called wild.. at the same level as core folder... and told the editor to point to wild by adding ( - wild) at the end of the shortcut.

but when i try to add to farsight's inventory, it points to core\entities ....? (instead of the wild folder) and i dont seem to be able to change where it points to?

2. Ive managed to change farsight's and stitch's names, stats also... but i have also made changes to their appearance.. when i start a new game in brahman wood, teir stats have changed BUT their appearance hasnt?.. does anyone know why?

many thanks in advance for any help!

ok.. ive managed to change their appearance by doing it in the actual level editor....

still couldnt change the weapons though?

1st Don't double post. Use the edit button if you have something to add and no one has replied yet.

2nd Extract the files to your core folder and then in your wild folder set up duplicate but empty folders. That way whatever you change gets saved under the wild path but you can still open the originals without having to keep unpacking things whenever you make an error. The correct way to point the editor at your new path is to add '-path wild' at the end of the shortcut. Adding - wild won't do a thing and you're just opening the default editor.

If you've set things up correctly you should see two of every folder, i.e. two items folders, two weapons folders etc. Once you edit an entity you'll see two versions of that as well, but you'll always open the edited version no matter which folder or item you click on.

Likewise when you come to edit an actor it doesn't matter which version of the weapon you equip them with if it's been edited they'll have the edited version.

When you make changes to an actor such as changing their appearance or race you'll nee to delete them in the level editor and then add the new version.

re: editing

Yeah, and when it really gets tricky is when you try to edit items that the Player starts with - because the game gives you different stuff depending on what your tag skills are (for instance, if you have Ranged weapons tagged, you'll get the MP5 - which means whatever ranged weapon you'll replaced it with - you'll still have to name it mp5Sub.ent even if it's something different).

Also, for those two characters you mentioned, FT Tools can add items to characters two ways - the first is through the Entity editor, and second is the Map editor. The map editor can override what the character is currently using, but can't remove things from it's inventory (I dunno though - can you put in something like ammo/9mmBall... quantity -1000 ?)

To remove starting items, open them up in the entity editor and under collectable tick them remove on exit. Then make a new version (with slightly different file name) for use in game.

Or use the custom entities from Melee meltdown, which will remove everything except for the poison and beer.

Everything in Farsight & Stitch's inventories is added via the level editor, so can be removed from there. Or just delete them and replace them .
