Additional Clear Sky media

Coverage on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. prequel Clear Sky has started with a bang. In the few days since the game was announced, there have been three sets of screenshots released, a first impression of the game in German, and a gameplay video also in German.

Perhaps most interesting is the video of the E3 demo of the game at GameStar.de, which is narrated in German. Forum member lisac2k has kindly provided us with a partial translation:

[... It is the entrance to a former hospital [level]...]

[... Our fellows gotta problem here, a sniper on the other end of the building...]

[... Improved graphics, textures and the models. Also particles look awesome...]

[... Now we have to go over this bridge, which is of course, hardly defended. In this E3 DEMO version the action play has been emphasized, as you can see it on the screen. The elements like inventory and similar are not there. We're fighting our way through the building step-by-step, clearing the way for the team, making it possible to advance further. The sniper is only a small pest, there's more problems in the building which can be solved only by playing within the team. They [the team] are the only one, who can make a hole in the wall and drop down the grenade, thus creating us the new path to continue.]

[...(Closing comment) How the story continues, how your equipment and weapons can be improved, what's the purpose of the vehicles in the game and what multi-player modes can be expected - you can find more about it at Gamestar and, eventually, the next year, when the game is about to be published.]
In addition to this video, Oblivion-Lost also has an additional four new screenshots of the game.

Sorry, forget to add one more thing, seemed rather interesting:

Well im excited at this one, enjoyed STALKER so heres me hoping the expansion will be just as good if not better.

I didn't play the first game, though I've heard they didn't implemented the vehicles (they had some plans, but due to the release date/publisher pressure probably left out). Hope the vehicles will get into the sequel (timelined prequel) properly, as they were supposed to be used in the first line.

Yeah in the early previews (and some trailers of the game) the player was supposed to have access to vehicles. Although looking at the way STALKER is now you'd never have guessed.

The maps where pretty small and FULL of anomolies that would tear you to pieces if you went off specific paths.

It'd be nice to see them in the expansion.

Some additional news courtesy of Oblivion-Lost, not enough to make a news-post about, but something some of you may be interested in. On the topic of the next patch, we have more excuses about why it is taking so long:

Regarding patch 1.0004 and its release date.

The thing is that in the process of submission of 1.0004 to THQ, we began work on the Chinese localization of STALKER. Asian localizations are not simple. Although, it is not the first time for us, this has added some problems. To make sure that the Chinese version is compatible with the others, it must be the same version as the patch. Consequently, release of the patch is being delayed until THQ and the Chinese tester team accepts the Chinese master. When will this happen? I hope, very soon.
I don't believe that patch 1.0004 is the patch that adds additional features such as free-play, that patch will come even later.

In other news, Oblivion-Lost has some Clear Sky concept art:

Well, Oblivion-Lost is on strike, a tad amusing.

That's pretty crazy.

Still, I can see their frustration. I think the patching process of STALKER has been absolutely horrid so far. It's really to bad since they seemed to have such grand visions of supporting the game after its release, but I guess THQ have effectively put a stop to that.

Yay publishers?

STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! ^^

anyhow, THQ publishes some nice games, but fuck, they suck at copyprotection. their Securom offspring shit always fucks with my dvd-rw forcing me to crack the damn game...

I remember when THQ was notorious for releasing the absolute worst games ever on the SNES. Looks like the games they choose to publish have improved, but they're still run by boneheads. :P
