after megamod 2.32 install error can't load cities

JMH

First time out of the vault
I installed FO2 and the official US patch and then 2.32. I got an error message that says it cannot download the cities. I didn't find a fix in the forums for 2.32 for this. I tried a patch for the the f2 mapper (don't know what that is but it is obviously something to do with maps) and when I hit start it said it couldn't find the mapper file. So not the correct fix for my problem I guess. Also, just to confirm - if I install everything correctly I will see the bolt in the temple, right? :?

The city patch has to be pointed to the correct Fallout 2 directories.

C:\Program Files\BlackIsle\Fallout 2\fallout2.exe

C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Fallout 2 Mapper\mapper2.exe

The Above are the exact things I had to enter for the city patcher to succeed. Notice that Black Isle and BlackIsle, are two different folders.

An easy way to get the directory is to go into the folder for fallout2.exe, and copy the link address at the top. However add fallout2.exe at the end of the link.

If the game is installed correctly, then you will see a bolt on the floor when you enter the Temple.

But just to clarify something: Are you trying to just run the game? Or are you trying to get the mapper/editor to work?

I'm just trying to play the game but I got the error message when I tried to play it.

I should clarify further that I have downloaded and reinstalled a couple of times because although I thought I followed the install directions I did not see the bolt when I started a game. This time around I couldn't get to the game because of this error message. Also, I just play games and add mods as I find them - meaning I am computer impaired and usually cannot tell you how, why or what I have done to make the mods work. I only know what a file is because the icon looks like a file folder. I managed to add the previous megamod version and played successfully for a few months and saw this new version so I cleaned the old game out which I am regretting temporarily I hope. So detailed instructions as if I'm a 5 year old is appreciated greatly.

Hi JMH,

Please do not post right after your last message, you can edit your post to add something. If you post right after yourself, it looks confusing.

I have only seen that error when the actual .exe from my mod wasn't added to the game folder. Make sure you replace this. That should fix your problem.

If it still doesn't work, follow the tips in the 2.32 readme file again. There are a number of things that could have gone wrong, and I can't know which one of those tips will really help you. Keep in mind, that list is not a step by step guide, these are just things that have gotten the mod to work properly. And what works for one computer doesn't always work for another.

Also, make sure your folder directory is set up properly. If you started the game and didn't see the bolt on the floor, then it is possible the mod wasn't installed right, and the original map was used.
