After Newton: help!

Okay, here's my problem. I'm in Newton, and I find a Tank. Now, I put the reaver officials inside it since that seems to be the safest place. Another problem comes up, though. My main character, who just made General, is no longer my leader. Can you give me some help?
 
the 'Leader' perk does not work inside vehicles. It's a real bummer :(
 
No, I don't mean the Leader perk doesn't work. I mean that the first guy on my bar, the one who determines my priority at the Department of the Quartermaster, the Medical Officer, and the Personnel Yeoman is now a Rank 1 Reaver.
 
It's a bug - nothing you candu. Reload and for godsakes, don't put the Reavers in the tank! I guess another bug is if you put them in the tank and leave the map you can keep them in the squad. Never tried it though.....
