Alien blaster

I thought it uses Small Energy Cells.

The description says: "A strange gun of obviously alien origin. It can support small energy cells, however."

The gun is primarily an Easter Egg weapon in Fallout 1 (gained from the crashed UFO special encounter) and 2 (from the trader special encounter above Modoc), only in Fallout 3 did it become some sort of "canon" with Mothershit Zeta. The Small Energy Cells thing is just so the rare gun doesn't have its own type of ammo it doesn't really need, the idea of this was abolished when Fallout 3 introduced "Alien Power Cells".

Well, at least that's my take on it.

damn, i miss that

i understand, that this is just simplification of game process, but, "how"?

Speaking of rare, Mauser would be idiotic example of "unique" ammo. Only 20 rounds (+7 in the gun) through the whole of FO1 !!!&%:(

You can also get the Alien Blaster (in FO2) from a locked box in the enclave base by the endgame (in the eletric flood puzzle) but only if your INT (or it was speech skill?) is 8 or above. take a look at per's guide for better information.

how hard is it to get the special encounter? I will have around 9 luck on that character. I could go for scouting too. would that do it?

this encounter, trader Willie, appears on the highest square up from the Modoc in certain time of the day. but some times he offers you very rare items, but price is high too (seems that luck also influences that. look onto Per's guide)

Uh, willy's item depend on you level (more levels, more probability that it is a rare item). Alien Blaster = 13 or more levels.

If you don't have money, just use Steal on willy before talking to him. Many times he has more than one item, so you can steal not one, but three alien blaster!

Steal rulez!

Well the jist of the alien blaster I got in fallout was that it was configured to accept SEC's at area 51, as thier crashed ship had a placard with "Property of Area-51" emblazoned on the side.

"A strange gun of obviously alien origin. It can support small energy cells, however."

I suppose it can be taken as the Vault Dweller was just assuming it's alien in origin, but then this line is thrown in: "it can support small energy cells, however." That in spite of the fact that it seems alien, earthly components fit in it/work with it. So, it could not be alien at all, but there is the possibility that it is, in fact, alien. (Yes, I'm aware that that line is in there to let the player know the ammunition, but still it can suggest more than that.) Or the best explanation of how it can use SECs is that its just an Easter egg.
