Alien mines in redding support beam?

Hey guys um i have started a new game of fallout 2 and i have been trying to complete the wannamingo mine quest anyhow i have killed everything in there and asorti wont agree that i have completed it anyhow i guess ill figure that one myself but there is a support beam in the mines and there is a hand symbol appear when you move your cursor over it i cant use repair skill on it do i use a rope to hold it together or to i use something to blow it apart i placed some explosives at the base of it and nothing happened if anyone knows a way to interact with it of such please reply...

You sure you killed all of them? I remember having problems finding them all.

I remember that this support beam is also in rat caves in Klamath and you cannot do anything with it either.

Make sure you waste all the wanamingos.. Also the gray one by the eggs. And also those in other parts of the mine, also on the first level
