Brahmin the Barbarian sent us a press release from the team working on Mutant's Rising, they could use an influx of scripter blood.
Nuclear Winter Studios needs scripters to continue work on Mutants Rising. The team is working hard on what they can, but without scripters there is a danger of it collapsing. Some of us are trying to cross class and learn enough scripting to get by on, but many have fears that this will not be enough!

Scripters: If you have any knowledge of programming and are willing to help out with our project, then please contact us at our forum: http://forum.nwsgames.net/

Grunts: We could use some people who are willing to put in some time to do some of the easy work, it may not be the funnest stuff in the world, but you'll get your name on the credits list.

Please contact us at our forum: http://forum.nwsgames.net/ if you are interested in applying.
So there you have it, if you feel you can help, apply so that the mod can see the light of day.

i dunno man, i got my AA degree in computer science 3 years ago and havent done any serious scripting since then, only gfx and pc repairs, so i cannot be of any immediate help.

Quite frankly, one scripter is not enough to work on. To complicate matters somewhat, said scripter is currently computerless. So, drop by and throw an application at us. We cannae let FMF beat us!

If you have that degree, then you understand the principles behind programming, thats all we really need as long as you are willing to put in a lot of time and effort to learn with us from the resources that are avalible. The scripting language used in Fallout is similar to, but not exactly like, C.

If you have the time and the motivation, and are really interested, then we are eagerly awaiting your application. We could really use you.

I have been programming for 14-15 years professionally now.. the problem is, while I could do this, I'm afraid I would be an unreliable resource... being that when my work is done for the day/week.. i don't want to program anymore.

Scripters, scripters... It's always about the scripters...

*stops a passer-by*

You wouldn't happen to have a spare scripter on you? That's what I thought...

Scripters are the unsung heroes. It doesn't matter how good your story is if you don't have anyone to interpret it into something playable. I'll bet that several of you out there could do it, but are reluctant for one reason or another. I can picture you right now, sitting there thinking smugly, "Yeah, I could do it, but what's in it for me?"
What's my answer?
"The world, Manolo, and everything in it."

I mean think of it, the rewards are many. First, you could say to yourself in your initial blind heroic moment: "I'm gonna be a goddam hero!" Then, you could consider all the great people you get to work with including the notorious People's Roshambo, dwave1165. On second thought, lets backup to the hero part---Focus on being a hero. Everyone here will love you for your sacrifice.

(maybe)

i know, its a stripped out C with Pascal elements.

i've been working closely with TeamX for almost 2 years now and it was good and all, well actually they're a great team but they didnt appreciate me for my main talents and all they wanted me to do was translations, translations, and more translations. so i dropped myself out of main staff and only remain in the support staff at the moment without much ambition of going back, except for the forums where im a much needed moderator for the english section of the forum.

now im in the middle of the application process with FMF but sure, i'd like to keep my options open. i like your response, if you're part of the team management i'd sure love to work with you. but i dont wanna tear myself apart by playing on both fronts so i gotta sort it out with FMF first, see what they say.

All it would take to finish New Arroyo is a single scripter. A single dedicated scripter. And clever. Who'd be willing to work a lot. And do a lot of bugfixing. While being beset by badgers. And yet every other project is clamouring for the available scripters.

That's right, MR and FMF killed New Arroyo!

i doubt my extremely limited RunUO scripting which is C# would be of any benifit plus my schedule doesnt leave me a lot of free time :( my only real free time is on the weekends.

Available scripters? Those two words don't fit together man.

So, what do we do about it? Right now, we whine and beg a lot and hope someone steps to the fore. Probably all those who are willing to work should band together on a single project and tackle each project one at a time. Sounds good until peoples egos get involved. A secondary problem is that not everyone is a volunteer for the same reason. Some people are hoping to launch careers doing this while others just think it's something fun to do.

In truth, I can tell you that MR didn't kill New Arroyo. We've had (since I've been a team member) only two scripters. I'm not counting ColJack only because I'm not sure whether he did any scripting. The first is Lust the Banned and although still with us, his computer died and we don't know when he will return. The other was Andy-Spacetrain from Fanout and he never really worked with us. He's been in school. Right now, we have people on our team trying to learn how and they are Lisac, Eimink and Brahmin. They are three great people who will probably save the mod. We also hope to use DJ's FMF dialogue tool. There has been some cooperation between our teams and I must say that I am impressed with them also.
So, there you have it: an ad-nauseum behind the scenes peek at what is going on with MR; a list of some people making a difference; and an off-the-cuff solution to Fallout modding problems.

dodgerovitch, I'm not in the management, but I'm a very active member. I understand that with your other commitments working with NWS might not be easy, in the end, it is up to whether you want to, and whether you have time.

Offer them chinese porn and coffee. That usually works.

Is the coffee supposed to be Chinese too?

Rev. Layle, you'll get too meet new people, experiance new things, possibly even have the chance to work with the People Roshambo, dwave1165. Thats all we can offer you, along with your name in the credits, and the ability to add something of your own to a largescale project.

i was just kidding ont he money thing... well, sort of

actually it sounds fun. but i could not devote the time to this that would be needed, that is the liability i provide.

Thats how it seems with most people.

So you know guys, it doesn't consumes as much time as you may think, you may find you just need to have a few hours every week/couple of weeks, and 10mins or so to check our forums most days.

You may find you want more, but hey, I'm not experianced in that particular job yet.
