Blade Runner informed me of a new article that talked about the Fallout series, it's BhLegend that's written an article about the way to allure fans into a genre here's a snibblet:
But finally, finally they brought themselves to listen to the fans. And development started on Fallout 3, a continuation of the series in its original vein. Fans around the world rejoiced.... that is, until recently when the games development was cancelled. I -with the legion of fans behind me- believe that if they had not wasted time and resources on Fallout Tactics and the flop Brotherhood of Steel instead of continuing the saga further as it was... well, we all might be playing Fallout 3 now, replaying it in different ways: taking different routes, wild chances, and maybe even extorting money from some inept would-be criminals.
Worth the time to read if you didn't already knew the stuff that's written in this article..

Somehow it seems that the writer believes that Bis was involved in FOT tho...which is a common mistake..

Fallout Tactics wasnt all bad.......

although it WOULD have been better if it was Fallout 3.......... damn.......

Oh well if you want to Role Play online and you own FOT go to my site (Listed below) and play FOT:RPG......

My, My........ I miss those crisp winter mornings, waking up and booting Fallout 1+2..... The way you'd always find something new and interesting each time you played.......
I miss you so much Fallout.... so much......

*Sings 'maybe' as he slowly strolls away...Into the depths of the wastes that is the internet*

I can't imagine fallout tactics being connected to the cancellation of the game but I guess if thats there fancy they can say it. One of these days I'll pick the game up, along with jagged alliance and divine divinity.

I think the author was just referring to Interplay in general, not just Black Isle.

And I think it's very good that the press is still doing stuff on this topic. The more support we can garner for a good studio to start work on Fallout 3, the better.

Edit:
And I'd just like to add that even good game developers are still supporting Fallout 3. Troika has the follwing posted in their FAQ
Q: What about Fallout 3?
A: The Fallout license is owned by Interplay, and they will make any sequels. Troika has no rights to the Fallout license and therefore cannot create games using the Fallout universe.

There one of the few companies that I'd like to get it.
