Altered interface bar?

I just reinstalled 2 and the RP with pretty much all the extras yesterday, and I see the bar has been given a longer text box. I'm curious about when this was done and if/how I can change it back.

This is hi-res patch.

Open "f2_res.ini" and change:

IFACE_BAR_WIDTH=640

This will revert message log window to its original width.

Now to disable leather art to the sides of iface bar, you can do following:

IFACE_BAR_MODE=1

This will remove side art and "extend" map view to the bottom of the screen.
