American Conquest : Fight Back

Mad Larkin

It Wandered In From the Wastes
So, has anyone played this RTS?
I was lucky enough to pick up a second-hand copy last week and i've been totally hooked... But since i didn't get a manual it's been a bit hard to get started.
It basically revolves around the wars of 1600-1800... meaning a lot of muskets, arguebuses and mindless amounts of casualties.
It would be freaking awesome if defending your base wouldn't need so much micromanagement, but since the actual battles are so damn cool i can forgive that :D

There's nothin' like letting the enemy infantry race forward to attack through the seeming gap in your lines... only to be obliterated by 2 cannons firing grapeshot...

Yeah, but did it ever occur to you how much fun it would be if between those cannons and the enemy were your troops? I know, because I played Cossacks: European Wars, it is basically the same game, but a bit older, with a maximum of only 8000 units on the map at any given moment and a different look. It is pretty cool but after a while single player just gets boring, it is great to play it along with some friends.
