Ammo Question

Is the 5.56mm ammo from Fot (used in the Enfield and M16 rifles and the minigun) the same caliber as the 5mm ammo in FO2? Or do I need both 5mm and 5.56mm (to use the FoT guns in FO2)?

I'd presume it's the same, they tended to be a little more generic about calibers in Fallout. Perhaps use the new 5.56 art to have 5mm FMJ perhaps?

As far as I know, 5.56 mm is the same as .223 cal.

Really? So I wonder why in FO all of the 223 weapons are forced to use FMJ, and the 5MM weapons can only use JHP and AP. Puzzling.

Or are you saying 5.56mm is different caliber than the 5mm in FO?

EDIT: I see what you mean here.
I think I will exclude the FoT 5.56mm and make the M16 (and any other gun that needs 5.56mm) use the existing .223 FMJ.

Yes it's a different caliber, the 5mm in fallout is fictitious as far as I know.

5.56x45mm is also known as .223 though there are two main different types:

M193: was the original American .223 cartridge used by the M16A1 and Stoner rifles; most civilian rifles are chambered for this round.

SS-109 or (US) M855: developed by the Belgians as an improved version of the .223 cartridge; requires tighter rifling and the projectile is much heavier than the M193 thus achieving much better accuracy at longer ranges. For this reason it was officially adopted as the NATO standard and it is now widely used my most modern assault rifles.
