K, as I stated in an earlier post, Fallout 3 should delve farther into your characters abilities as an intelligent human being. In the post “Damages and Hit Points,” people are saying that they’d like to see their armor take damage. And that the armor would require repairs. Well, as I said in another post, Fallout 3 should allow your character to purchase machine tools, so he can, (?create?) repair, and upgrade weapons, tools and armor. If you do not have these things, then how is your character going to repair, say, the air filter within his power armor? Are you going to have to go find a merchant and buy that particular part? If so, then imagine how many parts, etc; you would have to add to make it work/realistic. And then, once you buy the part, are you going to fix it yourself? I think that merchants should sell machine tools… During a random encounter you could find a small house, like the ones in FO2. Then you could mark the house on your map and use it as a storage facility and repair shop. So, when you buy machine tools from the merchants, you can bring them to your house and set them up. Remember how in FO2, when you find those houses, they always had machine shops behind the house with a fireplace in the center of the room… remember those? Well, that type of house would be perfect. You could just go into your inventory, and drop the machine tool onto the workbench within the shop. Then, whenever you need something repaired, you could select the tool you want to use, scroll through your inventory, select the item you wish to be repaired… then your screen would go blank for a second and afterwards your item would be repaired (same as repairing anything else, or using a particular skill). Now, I think that having some parts which you can buy from merchants is a good idea… but it would really cut down on the amount of them if you were able to repair your own items, instead of having to go to a merchant every time your hydraulics screw up, etc… not only that but it would make for better game play and would end up being more realistic! I mean, if your character can repair an elevator, a power supply, complicated machines and computers, well, don’t you think he’d be able to repair a simple malfunction within his own armor that he uses and wears every day!? Also, in FO3, I’d really like to see the game react to the creativeness of the person playing the game. This was done in FO and FO2; however, I think they could take this a step further. I’d like FO3 to have a more in-depth and unique game play for each user. So, no 2 games would ever be alike. This holds true with FO and FO2; however, I believe that Interplay could take this even further. I’d personally like the ability to modify my weapons and create new ones.

Ex: Maybe by combining the Telsa armor with my power armor I could gain better resistance to energy weapons?

See what I mean? That would make the game so much more user oriented. It would be much more realistic as well. Also, I’d like extended game play. So, after I have finished the game, I could travel the wastes. However, not everything would remain the same. So, instead of having characters that are in a stationary position all throughout the game… maybe Joe bob at the liquor store decides that he wants to try traveling for a while, so he hands the business off to his son? I know that’d be hard to program… but it would be fun/more realistic. Also, if I start up a 2nd game after beating it the first time, I do not want to have to go through the same steps again and again… Either that or perhaps I could try playing the game as a merchant or as a town guard or sheriff? It might be nice to see the world of Fallout through the eyes of someone other than the chosen one.
Here’s an idea I have been working on:

Multiplayer option in Fallout 3: it would be a community so to speak. You would have the same map and timeline as depicted in the single player game… and when you log on, your computer would talk to the server and remind it where you were last located on the map. You can choose to be any character that was in the single player game it’s self. If there weren’t enough people to take up all of the NPCs, then the computer would automatically assign it as an A.I. there is no prewritten text other than the A.I., all human players would be highlighted and when you wish to speak, a dialog box would pop up and the two players would communicate directly to one another. In essence, it would be a “community based/created” Multiplayer Role Playing Game. So, you could have clans, raiders, the doctor’s guild, gamblers association, just anything that you could think of. That would be so awesome! And I really don’t think it would be that hard to do at all. Basically you could just have the map from the single player game, and then have your computer store your position on the map from when you last logged off, then the entire dialog is provided by the players online and a few A.I.s. Either that or all A.I.s that were in the single player game would be in the multiplayer game… doesn’t matter to me. It’d be neat to see the streets filled with only human players though. Any ways, these are just some ideas.
