Well, here's part 2 of my little story.

You should read part one before reading this one. Here’s what’s going on to refresh your memory. Matt and Cheryl are on their way to a Brotherhood base to become initiates.

The jeep moves through the wastes, sand as far as the eye can see. Thankfully, the jeep had a roof to block the direct sunlight however under the scorching sun, even Brian, the knight, had removed combat armor that was protecting his torso. “I want you all to keep your eyes open for life. They’re have been reports of raiders in the area and I want to know about them before they shoot at us. A lonely Brotherhood jeep paints a pretty picture. Are you two armed?” “I have a 9mm but I’m low on ammo.” Said Matt. “I’m afraid I don’t have a gun. I’m not very good with them either.” Said Cheryl. “That’s ok, both of you stay low if we run into trouble. Kate and I are more than prepared. Here is some 9mm ammo should you need it.”
Cheryl shifted around in the back seat so that she was leaning on Matt and looking out the window. Kate glanced back and smiles. “We will be stopping when it gets dark to rest and eat. There is water in the bag at your feet. Get comfortable, we have a long drive ahead of us yet.” Said Kate. Matt put an arm around Cheryl and leaned back. They had requested to be kept together while being trained. The request was deemed fair by the Brotherhood.
“Hey! I see someone! Right over there.” Shouts Matt, breaking the eerie silence. Kate hands Matt some Binoculars. “Is he armed? Does he look dangerous?” “No, I think it’s just a wanderer.” “Ok, I’m gonna stop and talk to him. Stay in the jeep.” Said Brian. As they got closer to the stranger, Matt could clearly see that he was very distraught. He was dressed in leather and had a pistol strapped to his leg. He seemed happy to see them.
Brian parked the jeep far enough away from the man and left the jeep unarmed to indicate he meant no harm. “Hello! I would like to trade for supplies if you have any to spare.” “Thank God! Raiders! A dozen raiders! They killed the rest of my caravan! Please help me.” Brian thinks for a moment. “I’ll tell you what. We’ll help you out in exchange for food on the caravan. I assume the raiders took it?” Said Brian. “Yes, yes. They did. Thank you. If you can get the caravan back and bring me to the nearest town, I would be more than happy to give you anything you need from the supplies. I’ve been walking for hours. Can you spare some water?” “Ok, deal. Get in and show us where the caravan last was.” The wanderer, Jacob, directed Brian where their caravan last was and an hour later, the new raider camp was in sight.
It was dusk now and the sun was just beginning to set, giving their surrounding an orange aura. Using the binoculars, Matt counted 15 Raiders, and there wasn’t much cover. They parked the jeep near a canyon wall and Brian opened a trunk in the back. “As initiates, your both entitled to leather armor and your choice of a weapon. At the moment your choices are 9mm SMG, .44 pistol, combat knife or throwing stars.” Explains Kate. “I’ll take the throwing stars, but I don’t think I’m ready for this.” Said Cheryl. “Don’t worry. Kate and I are going to snipe them from here. We need you guys to provide cover if any get too close.” Explains Brian. “That doesn’t sound too hard. I guess I’ll take the .44.” Matt’s new leather armor fit him perfectly but Cheryl’s was too large for her slim figure. Brian pulled a .223 sniper rifle from the trunk and handed it to Kate. He used a FNFAL with a customized scope. If they waited any longer to attack, it would be too dark to get a good perspective. But that also meant that the raiders wouldn’t have much trouble spotting them. Brian parked the jeep near a canyon out of sight and tossed Matt a clip of .44. Meanwhile, Kate was looking for a suitable place to stage an attack that had cover. She found some rubble beside a mountain wall and crouched there out of sight. Brian found a large tree that had fallen, probably from a storm, and hid there. The tree was rotting but would provide ample cover from small-caliber weapons. Matt hid with Brian and Cheryl beside Kate. Jacob stayed with the jeep.
It was dusk now, and storm clouds scoured the sky. They would have to attack now. Kate fired the first shot, piercing one raider’s skull killing him instantly. The raiders were panicked, some looked for cover while others readied there weapons and looked for the shooter’s location. Brian lifted the visor on his helmet to see better. A smile crossed his face while he shot a fleeing raider in the back twice. Now the raiders knew where Brian was and were running, crawling and ducking as fast as they could to get there. Brian set the assault rifle to burst and mowed down 3 more of them. Kate was being more timid, shooting when she thought nobody was looking. Inevitebly, she was discovered but not before she took down 4 raiders.
Matt took a chance and peeked out of his hiding spot. One raider was dangerously close, he panicked looking to Brian who was trying to fix his jammed weapon. “Shit” Matt said, gripping the Desert Eagle tightly in his hand. Luckily, the approaching raider hadn’t noticed Matt yet and was focusing on Brian’s position. Brian, after successfully fixing his FNFAL, looked up and met the Raider’s shotgun only inches from his face. Matt fired twice, one tearing the raiders nose off, leaving him screaming in agony, and the other through his neck forcing him to the ground choking to death. Brian looked at Matt in surprise, realizing what happened. “Thanks kid” “Keep shooting, I counted 5 more.” Replies Matt.
Cheryl looked up from behind the ruble, seeing 3 raiders running toward her and Kate. She quickly ducked and avoided a pistol shot that she heard plunge into the sand behind her. Kate fired a shot and Cheryl heard a man screaming, that faded away after a second. She took one of the throwing stars, quickly looked up from her cover and hurled it in the direction of a raider with a spear. No sound…she missed. Kate aimed and pulled the trigger. Click. “Shit, I have no ammo.” “H-how many are left?” “Two, I think.” The sound of multiple rounds hitting rocks interrupted them, causing both girls to instinctively duck. Not a second after the barrage stopped, the raider with the spear dove over the rubble, rolled, and landed behind them. Acting on instinct, Cheryl grabbed the spear before he could get his bearings and pulled it away. The raider didn’t let go and was about to strike her but Kate had been quicker. She threw a throwing star and planted it in his arm. Cheryl glanced back and saw a women with a sub machine gun behind Kate, about to fire. The shot hit Kate in the back with a thud, inflicting minor damage thanks to the combat armor. Kate struck the women with the butt of her sniper rifle and knocked her out cold. Cheryl kicked the angry man in the knee, forcing it to bend the wrong way and snapped his neck once he was on the ground.
Feeling confident, Matt takes a few shots at a raider, hitting him twice, and killed him. Brian finished off the last raider with a burst but not before he could throw a grenade into their cover. Time seemed to slow as Matt saw the grenade land in the sand only a few feet beside him. He was running before he even knew what was going on and heard Brian yell out “RUN!”
Kate heard a loud explosion coming from the rotting tree. Debris littered the ground as Matt gasped, breathing in sand, he coughed and looked back to where Brian was. He was on his feet now, the explosion had only shook him up.
After giving first aid attention to minor wounds and looting the raiders they had come up with: 4 9mm pistols, 2 shotguns, 1 MP5, 3 colt .45s, and 2 spears. Brian went back to the jeep only to find that Jacob had left without them.
