An Opinion

I will not have a big problem with Fallout 3 if one thing happens, it doesn't become as SLOW as Fallout Tactics. I have a descent PC and whenever I loaded up Tactics it took me like 30 minutes just to start playing. I even optimized the damn thing. 14 Degrees East better not be making Fallout 3. If they do Fallout will most likely be doomed. If Black Isle makes the game it might be a little bit better, except for some of the team breaking apart. I don't know if it is possible to make a game with Tactics graphics similarly as fast as say Fallout or Fallout 2. I still don't know why someone would make a tactical game for Fallout in the first place either. I love Fallout for being a roleplaying game not tactical. I say everything was going fine until Tactics, personally. In conclusion, tactical and slow Fallout games will ruin my opinion on what makes Fallout such a great game.

Oh yeah and this other opinion slipped my mind earlier. Now I remember :). In the first Fallout I remember everyone was trying to survive. There was noone trying to start any major businesses or trying to build casinos and what not. In Fallout 2, the towns were built and actually looked good. The casinos were big and great looking. It was just a short time after Fallout, and somehow they shot an organized, mafia-like, business town out of their ass. I know if I just got out of a nuclear fallout, I would probably have a house made out of sticks and glue. Plus, their where MILLIONS of great guns in 2. Well, not millions but a bunch. In Fallout there weren't a lot of guns at all. Not even close to being that advanced either. Thats what I liked about the original in the first place. You had to scrounge for guns and trying to get into a good position. You had to actually WORK to gain position in the game. In 2, I put a robe on and went right into Navarro, and picked up some advanced power armor and great guns. So from getting out of Arroyo I pretty much picked up some of the best stuff in the game in about 5 minutes. Im not even gonna talk about how messed up it was that there was such an advanced group like the Enclave, and even the BOS for that matter. That's about it. :)

Not only was the Wasteland flooded with high-tech weapons, it also seemed like everyone and his mother was wearing pants! The infiltration of Pants into society took long enough the first time, would it happen so quickly again? I think not.

Don't talk about ########.

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Jul-25-01 AT 11:26AM (GMT)[p]fo2 takes place 80 years after fo1. I think fo1 was 80 years after the bomb, giving you 160 years to start a casino. Don't forget that most of new reno are the remains of Pre-war reno.
(read the info in the vault in vault city and you'll see)
The casinos in the den and redding are minor and are found in simple buildings.
But I can somewhat agree with you considering the guns. take away the energy weapons (yes, all of them. they don't fit in)
scrap the vindicator and perhaps the gauss rifles and pistols too. The guns appeared after eighty years of BoS researching
and the coming of the Enclave. The enclave were probably trading guns for slaves/chemicals (salvatore and the lightbringers...)
Well, not the gauss rifle perhaps because the offer firepower for small guns players later in the game

And yes the heavy firepower were accessible too early.
I never minded getting power armor because I went right to navarro after san fran, and there I would get APA and return to bos in san fran and get one set of PA + Bos combat armor.

The point about what I wrote was not about how fast they put a casino up, but how fast they made New Reno an organized business center. Well, it is kind of about how fast some of the town and casinos were put up also. When you walk into the casinos, they are in perfect condition; lights working and everything. If a nuclear fallout happened that would not be possible. The casino would have either had to fall down or would have been a lot more messed up. You not only have one, but THREE perfect casinos + how many other good looking buildings are in the town. I just don't see how a bunch of dumb, mafia-like people (that's exactly what everybody in that town is) can construct that many buildings in just 160 years. Think of all the equipment that would be lost in a fallout. Let's just say that there wouldn't be much equipment to construct let alone a house or two. In Fallout 1, I liked the towns, because it was all (mostly)realistic. They were all ruins. The Hub, Necropolis, Junktown, etc. It made the game a lot more fun, and a lot more realistic than it's sequel.

A town like Reno wouldn't be a military target, but there would certainly be a lot of rioting and looting. I don't think it's wholly outside the realm of possibility that three casinoes would survive, but I agree that they would be in very poor shape.
