My budget is something around 900 Euros.

what would you guys suggest. The best bang for the buck so to say. I haven't been up to date for almost 2 years now so i don't think it's a good idea to spend my money before asking for some tips here.

EDIT: there is a website here called "Ditech". They let you configure your own pc online. Is this any good:

Thanks for the info mate. I also noticed that i can replace the CPU(and the mainboard, obviously) with a AMD Phenom II X6 1055T / 2,80 GHz. The AMD CPU's are cheaper and they do a lot for the money you pay.

Can't get quite as high as Intels, but AMD chips take a OC fairly well. Running a 9950 Black edition which i ramped up almost 600mhz with no voltage increases or FSB Tweaks, so i wouldn't completely dismiss them. Even as a overclocker they're a great budget chip.

Also, That box looks fairly solid.

You didn't state what OS you are planning to use, and you probably know this but be sure to go 64 bit if you want to use more than 3 gigabytes of ram.

That box looks good indeed, but why not go with a core i7?
Also 525 Watt is rather limited. I'm not sure if it's enough to feed the system as it is, let alone if you should ever want to add (or replace) another GPU, OC, add more ram,...

edit:

You can calculate the power usage of a system here:

the price difference:

i7 - 870/ 2,93 GHz : +182,90 Euro
i7 - 875 k/ 2,93 GHz : + 232 Euro
i7 - 880/ 3,06 GHz : + 443,12 Euro

It sure is enough for this system but you are right. another GPU could cause some problems.

crap

512k L2 cache minimum

and then make sure your L2 cache vs your core # figures into the L3 cache

512 L2 and 8 mb is good for a 4 core
512 L2 and 12 mb is good for a 4 core

even if you have to sacrifice some ghz do it

^ This, and if you want to OC just buy an i7 920 or 930 and decent cooling you can easily go over 3 GHz..

no need to invest in i7, methinks. only slightly faster than i5, and triple channel ram gets you almost zero performance gains in day-to-day computing. both sockets are going to be replaced next year and are dead anyway. save the money, get the cheapest i5 (the 750 or 760). they provide enough grunt for almost anything. if you need more power, with a bit of luck they will do 4 ghz, too.

what display size are you running? because if you go all cpu, your gpu will be the bottleneck here at 1680x1050 or above. you have 2 options: save some more and get a 5870 OR get a GTX285 for cheap on ebay or something. i got mine (with waterblock already installed) for 230€. this combo will run anything you throw at it. and yes, it WILL run crysis.
IMO, anything faster is just for bragging.

22" LG. 1680x1050 is the max resolution.

ok, i'm running the same resolution. an i5 750/760 with a gtx 275/285 or a radeon 5850 will have enough power for the next two or three years.
