well, basically you join a fantasy league and pick a bunch of players to compete against the other people in your league.

when the players do stuff in real life you get points for that.
it's usually based on gambling, but there are free leagues for fun, too, just like the nma league --- there's a thread down there somewhere.

in this case, we're talking about fantasy football (american), but that site I linked has fanatsy leagues for canadian football ,, hockey, basketball, baseball, and even golf.

there are usually a few kinds of drafts --- our nma was what they call a 'snake draft' where we all take turns picking and no one player can be on 2 teams.
the linked league is a salary cap league where you have a budget to stick to and each player is assigned a salary.
in these leagues players will appear on multiple teams
