Any other games like Fallout around?

First time out of the vault
Since playing FNV, I've decided that my favourite genre of game is FPSRPG (First Person Shooter Role Playing Game). I love the elements of this that combine the combat-heavy nature of a dedicated shooter (such as Call of Duty, Crysis or Battlefield) and something with a thick adventure-based storyline that gives you the freedom to make your own choices. In turn, this affects how things turn out for you later, if you end up 'good' or 'bad'. I think New Vegas handles the two smashed together pretty well.

With that in mind, are there any games you can recommend that are like this one? I'd love to have a proper sandbox world that I can explore and run around in (and play at my own pace) with an added emphasis on combat, and from a first-person perspective only. I had a go at Farcry, but was disappointed in many ways. Halo would have been a good bet but I wasn't a fan. Fallout 3 for me was horrible.

Sorry to have been vague in what I'm looking for, but does anyone have some ideas?

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series? It might not be a perfect match, but it does a pretty good job of meeting your criteria, and as an added bonus it also happens to take place in a post-apocalyptic setting and contain faction-based and survival elements as well as radiation dangers.

Sorry but you may be disappointed. The only real ones I know of is the original Deus Ex, Mass Effect, Knights Of The Old Republic series and the recent Fallouts (technically F:NV was the only one to even come close to a spiritual successor).

There isn't a lot of profitability in games that require anything more than twitch reflexes and shiny graphics. Something like imagination is down near non-existant, which happens to be one of the core principles od RPGS (atleast Western).

Try out Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. Entirely different setting, but it's a good roleplaying game and has the first person perspective you want. It's not a sandbox game though. ;)

Check out Mass Effect 1+2, I just finished beating them last week and they are incredible games.

Why.... do you troll the OP. :?

Because the OP doesn't want "other games like Fallout", but other games like Fallout 3? :>
Perhaps try reading the OP before sperging out a reply?

@OP: You won't really find a whole lot of games that combine open-world sandbox with FPSRPG. Mass Effect and Deus Ex has been mentioned, both good suggestions, but if you're expecting a sandbox world you're in for a bit of a disappointment. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is also good.
