Anyone know how to dissengage combat for Save game Editor

First time out of the vault
I have been playing fallout 1 for a straight 7 hours, now, I am stuck in the master's cathedral's lair, I saved in combat mode, and now I can't kill the master. I'm just too weak, I want to use my save game editor, but I cant do it when im in combat mode, anyone know how to work around this or disengage combat mode?
