Anyone know how to forward an email?

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Here is my situation; my supervisor is asking everyone at the office to Email him as soon as we enter the office, to keep track of who comes on time and who comes in late. While I'm usually on time regardless sometimes I slip up but he does'nt know because he goes out for lunch, I get my work done ahead of time and everyone goes home happy, I want to keep it that way.

I want to know if there is a way to link a gmail or yahoo account to a office email. That way I can have a coworker write an email from a gmail or yahoo account and it would look as if it come from my office computer.

I know there are programs I can install that spammers use to automatically send out emails for me, I can even change up the times to throw off my supervisor but the risk is not worth it for me.

1. This is not "forwarding an email" you're talking about, this is "aliasing an account", and you need to contact your email provider to do that.

2. Does your office email work only from within yor office network? if not, set up your account on another computer or use webmail.

3. Also, doesn't outlook have a "do not deliver before..." option in the email editor? why dont you use that to schedule your next morning mail the previous day, and have a coworker turn on your PC on time?

You can use your GMail-account: "Settings" -> "Account" -> "Add another email address you own"
I don't know if it will work with your office email, but you can try it.

The actual email-address will always be sent in the header of the mail, though. So if your boss checks that out, you're fucked.

I use Outlook at work but we also have an Outlook webmail running so I can reach my account from anywhere and send e-mails. I guess it's possible to see when and from what IP I logged on and sent the e-mail though.

Come to work as close to time as possible. If your supervisor gives you any shit for being five minutes late, headbutt him in the nose.

If you're using Outlook.

Set up a rule that will
- Scan emails as they come it.
- Set it up so it will trigger off of a specific word in subject "like" I'm here.
- Set up a template to respond with (Such as "I'm Here".

Alternatively, be a big boy and actually show up to work on fucking time.

It's also not onlyt "aliasing", you would have to spoof your office e-mail so iw would be seen as one from it while in truth being from GMail. Good luck with that. Or is your boss dense enough to not have any suspicions about an e-mail that simply has van.drunky@workplace.my as it's description in Outlook?

If you want to send the e-mails from work, do as zag says, schedule your mail, maybe don't even power down your computer at work at all (and install Boinc or WorldGrid to do some crunching lol or maybe you can use some flashy software to animate it for you). I doubt you can access company e-mail from outside work anyway, except maybe via VPN which would be logged. Companies tend to be pretty paranoid about e-mail, which they rarely encrypt by the way, these days.

Also, if all of your office email is going thru an exchange server, it is only a matter of time before someone finds out the mails aren't originating from exchange :)

the scheduling ofemail is a neat idea though.

just ask anyone you know that hosts servers (be it a webserver, a warez server, or whatever) to allow you to use his SMTP?

you can spoof the mail addy. it's easy.

hell, if you got a pc at home, you might as well host your own little mailserver that sends out your mails whenever you want to by tinkering with some very entry-level php scripting or cron...

says the IT manager that's too lazy to check if his staff is in the office and asks them to mail him their working hours. :P

My staff are responsible professionals whom I don't have to check on.

:P

We are responsible professionals as well.

The Email that my office uses is Novell Groupwise which is a .gov address. We decided to go with the buddy system and just get the same password next time they are going to be rest, and just call each other if we are running a few minutes late.

If you were responsible professionals, you wouldn't be trying to fake being to work on time.

I rather have the ability to do something and not need to then to need something I do not have an ability to do.

This is not a question of ethics, it's more of can this can be done.

gee wizz... it's only mentioned like in the first post after you started this thread, you dummy.

I know, I just didn't think it would be that easy. When I wrote the post from home and I have yet to have the time to mess around with my work email.
