Anyway to convert FO2 original saves to 1.02 patch?

I didn't realize I incorrectly installed the patch at first, and started playing the game.

Yes, dumb me.

However now I'm at Gecko and the ghouls keep shooting me, despite my best efforts to avoid them.

Is there anyway to redeem my saves, or should I just restart and start all over?

Ehm, yes, it's surprisingly called the 'save game converter' and is in the file section of the site.

Do people just do nothing but check the forums these days?
