More info on Fallout 3: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game - More info on BioWare

In an official press release, BioWare has announced:

BioWare Corp., the creators of the best selling Baldur's Gate and Nerwinter Nights series, are pleased to announce that the company has acquired the license for a sequel to Fallout - a highly praised series of cyberpunk games.

Fallout 3: Star Citadel will redefine the electronic role-playing game genre using the fully 3D BioWare Aurora Engine (previously used in Neverwinter Nights) and the d20 Modern system, published by Wizards of the Coast, Inc. The game will contain an amazing 60-100 hour single player campaign that is also playable in multiplayer mode. More than just a game, Fallout 3 will allow its players to step into the shoes of the Game Master to tell their own stories and create their own adventures in the spirit of pen and paper games using the powerful Neverwinter Aurora toolset. <===

you can start screaming now, even passout as i did ...or hoped to..
anyway cheers guys.

all the best,
micheal

Have you read the comments to this news at rpgcodex? It was a joke, a sick one (like the rest of the April 1st jokes). So you can stop screaming and don't even think of passing out. ;)

Ok, I take that back.

This one, from the Larian Studios (Beyond Divinity developer) was rather amusing. :
------------------------
For months now, we’ve been working on a big secret. We can finally, and proudly, announce this new project:

"CaRPG" (working title)

Have you ever wondered what an RPG would look like when bringing it to the street? Well, here's your chance. In “CaRPG” you are a Cyrborg: half man, half car. During your dangerous journey through Mutant infested cities, you'll have to face uncountable adventures entangling your Cyrborg in the city’s intrigues, adrenalin-pumping car chases, challenging fights and all the cool features of an RPG. While being hunted by the various villains of a post-nuclear future, your goal is simple: to survive! About 12 different Alien races with simulated culture and complete daytime rhythm will make that very hard...

But you'll also meet lots of Allies that will offer their help if you help them out with many randomly generated Quests.

Mount over 60 different weapons on your vehicle and choose between 20 different cars, ranging from a very basic buggy (pun intended, see screenshot) up to very heavy trucks. Upgrade your character with several shields, armors, spikes, batteries, engines and so on. You'll start with basis of a steel-wire buggy, covered only with a leather hull, but look out for the chain-fence, full plate or titan armor plates! The weapon range is from a basic Katana up to multiple grenade launchers or even Ion canons.

When you get more experienced you will not only get faster and stronger, you also get bonus skills and equipment after reaching a certain level, such as special bumpers for escape saltos with your car, rocket boosters for high jumps or even gravitation belts for levitation. What more would a car want?

CaRPG will be fully 3D, using the same engine we'll use for Divinity II, will have full voiceover for all the dialogs, and steerwheel support.
Click for the first screenshot.
Are you up to the challenge coming to you in 2005?
--------------------------

And this just cracked me up:
-------------------------
For those who haven't figured it out yet, the announcement of CaRPG was our April Fools joke. Please stop sending us mails for interviews, screenshots, and previews... please...
----------------------------
hehe

is it an april-joke?

Bloody bastards!!
there are some things you just don't joke about!! i checked the forum on the 2nd april and the publisher didn't mention anything about april fool...

still hoping.

If Bioware made Fallout 3 I'd have to...hurt someone. I am soo tired of Bioware's games- sure, they're fun, but they made for close-minded folks, it seems, as they are ridden with cliches and are totally black and white, good and evil, and if any part of their game is good they just reuse it over and over in all their subsequent games (jailbreak quests, for instance).
