Arcanum Scenery Artwork

I wish to pass to the Fallout modding community all of the Arcanum scenery artwork. The images have been saved with the Fallout color palette…therefore each individual artwork just needs to be cropped from one of the two master images before it can turned into a FRM with the Frame Animator program. The vast *majority of this artwork will require some adjusting (de-saturated – re-colored) before becoming suitable for the Fallout setting. Arcanum Scenery Artwork

*There is a large difference between the art styles between the two games, even though many of the same artists worked on both projects. What works in Arcanum won’t necessarily fit in the world of Fallout, but hopefully these artworks will be of some use – inspiration for those individuals who wish to build their own artworks for Fallout.

Yes, yes, yes. Aracnum artwork will fit well into Arroyo expansion mod. Don't forget to include few magic elements too (like spells, magic items, etc.).

Actually I wouldn’t touch 99% of this stuff…but there’s a few trees and rocks that might be of some use - regardless it’s still beautifully built art… :P

Hell Yeah

The steam powered armor could be like a poor mans powered armor lol.

I was in the process of doing the items from Arcanum, but have been too busy recently - also there would be very few items practical for the Fallout world, maybe some guns and ammo...

Though some might think Arcanum artwork incompatible with Fallout, one never knows-- a small piece here or there could be handy.

@.Pixote.

I realize some time has passed since you worked on this, but I'd like to know (if you remember) whether you formed any opinion while extracting the Arcanum scenery regarding whether some of the critter animations are readily compatible with Fallout/2. There are a few livestock and game items (chickens, pigs, rabbits) and wild animals (bears, cougars) that could be of some use in the Fallout wilderness.

Thanks,

How about some jellies and rodents -

These have been converted to the Fallout colour palette. Certain animal types could work, but the die hards would find these critters blasphemous. I think they would require some small colour/tone adjustments before converting.

The rat-thingie is pretty nice.

I wouldn't be too concerned about blasphemy and heresy, though. Admittedly I don't follow the main forums, but I suspect not too many of the really hardcore folks (compared to ten years ago) are around anymore to complain; the commercial devolution of the franchise in recent years was too much for their spirits and sanity to bear. In any case, modding has in my opinion always rightly been given a fairly generous indulgence, because everyone wants more mods but very few have the requisite knowledge and talent to make them; thus no sensible person wants to scare modders away. Furthermore, in most cases no one must use any particular mod they don't fancy; in the same way I personally wouldn't consider playing "Fallout 3," yet am not bothered by what others may find entertaining in their own time.

With a number of mods lately showing an interest in survivalism/hunting/food gathering etc, some of those Arcanum chickens and rabbits might be a fairly useful and fairly easy project for some one looking to dip a toe in the graphics modding game.

Keep up the good work on your many and sundry projects.

The giant hunch-back rats would fit in just fine with the mole-rats and pig-rats IMO. I would think some of the other animals would work too, like the wolves, bears, and big cats from Arcanum.

You have to be careful not to push Fallout over to the fantasy side of gaming. Arcanum has a very particular visual style, and even though it was built by the same guys that made Fallout, it's very different. It feels more romantic in style.

I just played Planescape Torment recently and thought maybe one or two creatures could work in Fallout, a Fallout mod anyway. But they would require re-colouring, etc.

I agree. Sticking with "natural" creatures should be okay though. Dragons and demons and elves...no. Also nothing Victorian.

Pixote, which of the characters from PS:T you think could work in Fallout? There are some really beautiful models in there, but I am not sure they fit to Fallout. Note, that all the models from PS:T appear bigger as the entire perspective in PS:T is more zoomed in.

I am sure pixote was more about the rats and stuff.
