Are rappers and metals of the same clay?

Old. And I think the term is "metalhead."

And no, no gangsta metal. Ever.

I doubt it. From what I know of Rap, it began in the 1970s among inner city blacks, primarily out of the Bronx. The "rapping" come from an old form of competition among blacks.

Metal is primarily white, suburban although it traces itself back to both the hard rock of the 1970s as well as the hard core of the Punk movement.

(You have no idea how many students have written about this as a form of resistance- advice to students- don't write on this- it's been overdone.)

Also, it's been whored by the record corporations so too many times. Really, if you think up a catchy form of resistance, the next day you'll find a price tag on it.

I still think that setting oneself on fire is the best form of resistance.
And it’s something you don’t see commercialized.

Kids… you wanna show resistance? … get some gas and matches

Actually...

ahhh Rage... they understand me... too bad Zack left...

BTW, my reference was the same as Rages’ in that cover: the Buddhist monk who set himself on fire in protest against the Diemgovernment's policies, during the Vietnam war.

Ok ok, it was the cover of a band, but hey… what I meant was that you don’t see a whole lot of people actually DOING it!

Well, you can say that Rage might be different. THey were fighting for a cause by getting the word out. I dunno how much they were into the money, so I dunno how much respect they should get.

I don't really give Rage much respect politically. They were kind of stupid.

"Down with capitalism! Wait. What's that? Sony Records wants to sign us? Fucking sweet! Up with Marx! Down with the Bourgoisie! Huh? We're charging 75 bucks for tickets? That's cool. Maybe up it 10 bucks after the album comes out. Uh, the government is bad!"

Still a good band, tho'.
